Retailers get nervous

December 11, 2009

Holiday sales nationally are not looking good, according to The Wall Street Journal. The first week of December was especially slow, with sales dropping 18 percent over the previous week. One retail observer is saying, “It looks like the middle of August out there.”

So now retailers must decide whether to cut prices even further now, or wait until closer to Christmas. Nine out of 10 people waiting to finish their holiday shopping are doing so to get discounts of at least 50 percent. Experts predict that huge discounts could appear as early as this weekend.
