Arroyo Grande City Council replaces Ed Arnold

May 26, 2010

The Arroyo Grande City Council voted to replace former councilman Ed Arnold with Caren Ray, on Tuesday. [KSBY]

Ray, one of seven candidates, currently serves as chair of the Arroyo Grande Planning Commission. She teaches social sciences at Santa Maria High School.

Arnold resigned in April.

He faces five felony charges stemming from an incident last December involving a female Arroyo Grande city employee and two charges related to allegations of child pornography. He has pled not guilty to all counts.

Now that Arnold has finally stepped down, his case is really not that interesting. I am glad to see the City Council replace him so swiftly and after holding a public forum for input. The City can now get back to business as usual without the Arnold distraction. Good work by the City Council.
