Police find cop impersonator in Atascadero

July 20, 2010 12:41 am

Atascadero police arrested a 27-year-old Bay Area man Monday morning for alleging impersonating a CHP officer.

Mark Polini, believed to live in San Jose, was pulled over after he appeared to be driving an unmarked police car, a black 2001 Ford Crown Victoria, near the Atascadero Shell, off San Gabriel Road.

Police say Polini made the car up to look like a police car.

Polini was arrested on suspicion of a concealed and loaded firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon, and impersonating a police officer. He was booked into County Jail and later released after posting $20,000 bail.

The Atascadero Police Department is seeking potential victims, or anyone who may have had contact with Polini. Please call 466-9111.

He would probably do a better job at law enforcement than the Atascadero Police Department
