San Luis Obispo assault and attempted carjacking

March 30, 2011

San Luis Obispo Police arrested a 19-year-old on suspicion of assault and carjacking on Wednesday.

Douglas Kaplan accidentally rear ended Armon Johnson on Broad Street near Tank Farm Road at about 4:30 p.m. Both men got out of their vehicles to discuss the accident.

After finding out Johnson had called police, Kaplan attempted to flee in Johnson’s car, police said.

Johnson, 48, wrestled with Kaplan who fought back. A witness, Joseph Zavala, 46, joined Johnson in successfully detaining the alleged carjacker until police arrived.

Police booked Kaplan into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of carjacking and assault with a deadly weapon.

Thanks to the fire department and thier medics for continuing care of this maniac in the back of the ambulance to the hospital all the while he was out of control, combative and more than likely screaming profanities and spitting at them. That is why I could never be a firefighter…..I would choke the guy out and toss him out of the back of the ambulance!

That is the stress part of the job. LE has it worse, they have a handgun at their side and no doubt feel the best way to give our society a gift is to take out the genetic malfunctioning humans. But they cannot……… and LEOs keep arresting these types and see them back on the streets within hours sometimes. Our once laid back county is now starting to see more and more crime like other areas have dealt with for years.

Criminals and misfits cost us a fortune we do not have and their is no end in sight.

Nice of the bystander to get involved. We all should look out for each other more.

Happiest City in the USA….

Oh Danika, don’t be soooo cynical. They were wearing their happy face tee-shirts. Furthermore, according to eyewitnesses at the scene, they were also smiling the entire time. Sheesh!!!!
