Three arrested for mailbox thefts

Police officers arrested three Bakersfield residents on Monday for allegedly breaking into and taking mail from outdoor mailboxes at two post offices in San Luis Obispo. [Tribune]

Responding to a 911 call, police stopped a vehicle near the post office at 1655 Dalidio Drive shortly before midnight. Inside, they discovered pry tools, a metal bar, mail and property that the trio allegedly took  from mailboxes at both the Dalidio Drive and the Marsh Street post offices.

Police arrested James Mason, 29, Jennifer Barthel, 31, and Edgar Gomez, 36 and booked them into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of burglary, possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of burglary tools.

Yeah, NO. Most of the “checks” the government “sends out” are actually direct deposits into checking accounts.
