Woman arrested for brandishing a gun during squatter battle

November 28, 2011

A battle over creek side squatting rights in Atascadero ended with the arrest of a woman who allegedly threatened to shoot two people. [KCOY]

Shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, an Atascadero resident heard arguing coming from the creek area near the intersection of Capistrano Avenue and Sycamore Road and called police.

A man and a woman told officers Tracey Bellew, 42, had pointed a gun at their heads and threatened to shoot them. They had argued over tenant rights in one of many creek side settings where the homeless set of camps.

Bellew took off before police arrived. Officers established a perimeter in the creek area, found Ballew and booked her into San Luis Obispo County Jail on assault with a deadly weapon charge.

Where is the second half of this story? Hike up those balls, Indians, and get the other half of the story–that of the defendant’s.

I agree with Cindy on this issue. I can’t imagine what it would be like to live near other homeless campers. You wouldn’t want to do anything that attracts attention from the more lawless individuals and I don’t know how homeless women would protect themselves from harm.

This is a losing situation. It is even possible that Tracey was a threat to the other creek side campers. We’ll never know who is at fault here.

Cut it with the shelter nonsense. They’re not staying anywhere they can’t drink and do drugs.

max-con-fusion,

Shelter nonsense? So, by your inept thinking, we’re to assume that ALL of the homeless that do pack our county shelters on any given night, don’t do drugs at this time for the sake of having a warm place to sleep and something to eat?

What a sweeping generalization you present! Better yet, you’re “profiling” all homeless as druggies and alcoholics! Granted, some fall into the category that you mention, but nonetheless, they’re still homeless!

Way to go Max-con-fusion! Obviously you’re not a Christian, because no one of the faith would have the audacity to make such an inane statement like that. Who knows, with the current economy and mounting job losses, you might be next, and by your thinking, we can call you a druggie and alcoholic too! lol

Way to generalize and profile, yourself! You, sir, drip with irony.

roy,

I am going to send you to the corner with a “time out” if you don’t start making sense by disrupting this thread with your “assuming as a premise, the conclusion in which you wish to reach” fallacy!

Tell me how I generalize, when in fact, I mention that some of the homeless are using drugs and alcohol? Then I proffer that some don’t. God only knows the percentages of each faction, but once again, they ALL remain homeless!

The only thing that I “drip” with is the TRUE knowledge of Jesus’ words, praise!

The homeless situation is a big mess. I can’t imagine the danger that a homeless woman must face when she is off sleeping unprotected in an encampment. She definitely needs protection and it seems to me that the best place to get that is to sleep in a Shelter. If she can’t get into a Shelter then her next best bet is to find a secret place to sleep alone where she won’t be noticed. I understand why she might think she needs a gun and she probably does (for reasons other than an squatting rights) but this incident is a clear example of why she shouldn’t be carrying one apart from the fact that it is illegal without a permit of course. If she were a responsible individual, no one would ever know she had that weapon and she definitely wouldn’t have pulled it out over an argument.

Cindy,

The homeless situation doesn’t have to be a problem if the churches within our county actually followed the word of Jesus, period! Yes, I brought this topic up in another thread, but it holds true to this thread’s topic as well!

If one used godly logic101, the churches within our county should feel completely embarrassed if we have just one true homeless person in our county! If they actually followed Jesus’ teachings within the bible, they would not have ONE RED CENT within their coffers and/or tax free bank accounts!

All of the churches money, except normal operating costs, should be going directly in helping the TRUE homeless within our county! How can these churches speak on Sunday mornings, and with their congregation driving into their parking lots with the latest of Detroit iron, and knowing full well that many, including children, went without housing the previous night because the homeless shelters were too full? This is blaspheme to our Lord!!!

To all the CHRISTIAN churches in SLO country, remember what our Savior stated? To wit: Jesus said; “All they asked was that we should continue to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.” Galatians 2:10

Jesus said: “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. Protect the rights of all who are helpless.” ( Proverbs 31:8)

WWJD?

You bring this topic up in ALL threads, and your truth is really just your own faith.

For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always. (Matt 26:11)

Roy,

May I suggest that before you try in vain once again to usurp my godly knowledge, that you either put your thinking cap on, or consume a second cup of coffee next time. Okay?

Yes, there will ALWAYS be the poor amongst us, but it is what we do subsequent to this fact! In TRUE Christianity, we’re to help them and take care of them, as Jesus would do, get it? Remember the number one acronym of Christianity? WWJD?

The additional passage listed here, besides the ones in question that I’ve shown in this thread, spells it out rather well. “For there will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, ‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’ (Deuteronomy 15:11)

Furthermore, in positing that my truth is just my faith, there’re other faiths that help the poor. Even the hell bound atheist would be included in this proposition. Hopefully you’re not alluding to the possible fact that you don’t help the poor in some way? Shameful if this is true. :(

Ted, We who are not “poor” , all contribute to the poor tremendously. Who do you think pay’s for all the welfare checks and debit cards including the ones that get used in Las Vegas and cruise ship ATM machines? Who pay’s for the food stamps, the medical, the free lunch programs, the section 8 housing, the clothing allowances and the duplicate paper work that reads in Spanish so that foreigners will be included? We the working class do. Yes we pay for the locals and the foreigners alike. We pay for the innocent and we pay for the sinners. We pay for the whores, the murderers, the fornicators, the drunkards, all of us are EXTREMELY CHARITABLE. I don’t believe there has ever been a land or people as charitable as we the people of the USA are. Now please shut up.

Cindy,

Such outright disrespect to a godly individual like me! What did I expect from a woman sinner of your magnitude? Exactly what you gave me!

Dear, if you notice, my entire premise is based upon the CHURCHES in our county in respect to the giving of the poor, NOT THE ENTITIES THAT YOU MENTIONED IN A RACIST MANNER! How outright ungodly can you get? Stay on topic the next time you try to engage a godly man like me!

Besides, if anyone is to shut up, as in your case to save yourself any further embarrassment, IT IS YOU AS A WOMAN! ““Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. (1 Timothy 2:11-12) Do not try and usurp the authority over me as a man, as the bible so dictates!

How embarrassing for you. I will pray for you tonight, you’re welcome.

I will pray for your sake, Ted. You of all should know that you yourself cannot call yourself a ‘godly man’. For just the way you post and talk down to people is not the way of the Lord. Shame on you!!!! And degrading women?? Bigger Shame On You!!! You are not a man of God just for the way you act! I feel pitty on the day you a shunned from entering the gates of Heaven and I pass on thru!!!

my2cents,

You don’t need to pray for me, I need to pray for you people that seem to think that you know more than God within the bible! LOL You’re funny. You’re a prime example of this fact by your making misguided assertions in your post!

I use my Savior as the supreme example of how to act when it relates to addressing His creation that remain ignorant to His word, like you. Jesus acted worse than I am “supposedly” acting within this forum! Read your bible!

Furthermore, and once again for the your eyesight impaired vision, I AM NOT DEGRADING WOMEN; THE BIBLE PASSAGES THAT I PRESENT ARE DOING THIS, UNDERSTAND???!!! Who am I not to follow God’s word as I present it? H-E-L-L-O?

I have forgotten more than you’ll ever know about the Christian bible, therefore, I am the most godly man that you will ever come across! Remember this very simple fact.

For entertainment purposes, tell everyone where YOU get the authority to usurp God’s word relating to how women are to act, as I’ve shown in the many passages within this thread? Tell us, please.

Thank you.

LOL LOL LOL, A “godly individual” such as yourself !!

Hey Ted, I know the floozy you’ve been dating ;)

Cindy,

Uh, the “current” woman that I am dating, well, I wouldn’t call her a floozy, per se, even though she shows a hard and colorful past. I am taking a missionary position with her by jamming the direct word of God into her, so as to jettison all of her sin in the name of Jesus.

She is a work of art in the making, praise! She’ll clean up well subsequent to some dentistry, plastic surgery, and entering into Jenny Craig’s weight loss program. After all these entities are accomplished, she’ll be a fine example of one of you “Sisters of Eve!”

I find it total blaspheme that you’re talking to me in the first place, especially since I’ve shown you what our Christian God’s edict says about you women concerning men! “Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. (1 Timothy 2:11-12) Dear, what part of the passage above don’t you understand? Case closed.

Oh man, you’re in trouble now, dentistry, plastic surgery? Just wait until I tell her what you said. I can’t argue about the Jenny Craig though, she readily admits that she needs to drop a few lbs. Maybe you’re actually running around with a few “colorful woman” who love to party, you naughty naughty playboy.

Cindy, with as much respect that I can muster towards a woman, subsequent to reading my bible, what part of the God’s word below don’t you understand?

“Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. (1 Timothy 2:11-12)

It’s very disturbing to realize that there’re so many non-christians within this forum like yourself. :(

“Methinks the lady protesteth too much….”

It never happened! It’s the cops fault! I spoke with Tracey about the incident! She wouldn’t lie! All of the homeless shelters treated her disrespectfully!

Oops… sorry. I was just thinking aloud about what Becky Jorgeson’s response would be…. never mind.
