Shadowy right-wing contributor unmasked

November 5, 2012

A national conservative group has been identified as the source of a heretofore anonymous last-minute contribution of $11 million infused into two California initiative campaigns. (Sacramento Bee)

Compliance from Americans for Job Security of Nevada came only after a rare Sunday order by the California Supreme Court. The announcement was made at 9 a.m. Monday by the state Fair Political Practices Commission.

The group supports an anti-union ballot measure, Prop. 32, and seeks the defeat of Prop. 30, Gov. Jerry Brown’s proposed sales tax hike.

According to reports, the disclosure raises more questions than answers, because the group does not have to identify individual donors under federal law.

Small potatoes, try this on: A wealthy Florida Jewish family, the Falics, donated half of BiBi Netenyahu’s campaign money for his “election”. Netenyahu will then get his war with Iran if Romney gets in office because he and Bibi baby are best buddies since 1972 and are planning just that. Romney’s statement, “He and I speak in shorthand we are so similiar” could quite possibly mean WW III.

Wakeup everybody, Adelman, the Koch bros. the Falics, the list goes on and on and on……

Why worry about some piss ant union buster when WW III is in the making?

No? Read todaze Trib. (the 6th) A4. Nut&Yahoo begging for war, and even more shocking was the IDF and Mossad’s response which was not without America’s help.

Maybe our whole concept of representative democracy will change, i.e. some folks get represented more than others. Unions emerged because workers needed representation to maintain a reasonable standard of living – born from this was the middle class and the ultimate economic model of prosperity and stability. If the distinction is based upon wealth, then shaky times are ahead as the value of the dollar, the US’s “stock” abroad and the support for collective institutions such as the military and government diminish. At some point, the juice is not worth the squeeze for the rich who undermine the system and abuse their power because without an educated, productive middle class that accepts its collective fate however prosperous or not, the value of their domestic wealth will suffer (which begs more questions about foreign/offshore wealth). And remember, when a group is stripped of its “rights”, there most likely will be consequences for ALL. Americans do not accept this and never have.

QUOTING RANDY SHEILA: “Maybe our whole concept of representative democracy will change, i.e. some folks get represented more than others.”

Wake up. There IS no representative democracy anymore. We live under an oligarchy, and the march towards this sad state of affairs started long ago, but have drastically increased since Ronald Reagan’s bend-and-spread-’em two-step to the religious right started when he oh-so-desperately wanted to please his wife, “mommie,” by getting a new acting role—president of the United States.

The Gov’t & Military will lose “support” (from us) as you say but not money, that’s gets printed by the Fed. And the Fed(s) need those two entities for war (the act of stealing what you can…..because you can). Then they the booty it killed for gets sold on Wall st. Great scam, but not new.

It’s just like the Vietnam war from which the saying “War is good, business, invest your son” came. So here we are again, But today they die for anybody with a PC in the world who wants to sit around in his underpants buying stocks. God, aren’t F’d up? Blind as ever.

The following comment by Soquel by the Sea to the Sac Bee article was interesting:

“I think it’s great that the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) is demanding full disclosure for shadowy Americans for Responsible Leadership (ARL). Let’s hope that the FPPC also receives a full disclosure of all the individual contributors to the top two spenders in California politics.

QUESTION: Who are the two biggest spenders in California politics?

According to the California Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC), the top two spenders in California politics are …

1. California Teachers Association (CTA)

2. Service Employees International Union (SEIU)

Both are public-sector employee unions. Employees are paid using taxpayer dollars.

Your reference is two critical years out of date, since the Citizens United & Montana rulings changed the entire political campaign financing landscape. It’s worth only what it provides in a historical context.

If you want to ignore the currently developing balance sheet, as evidenced by this small example from the article, then you’re spinning a dangerous fantasy.

Fortunately, some people won’t accept this and are acting against these groups:

Our Constitution provides the right to free speech, not hidden speech.

As long as it is on their dollar, donated individually to their union of choice no problem… All of us have that choice.

May we assume Mary Malone is your real name, then?

Kevin, I am truly disappointed in you.

You may assume what you wish, but you’ve lost yourself a loyal supporter.

Who is the Kevin P. Rice with the Photoshopped eyeballs?

There are now many Christian right “public relations” companies, which actually serve as PACs. This allows Christian Right luminaries, like James Dobson (Focus on the Family), to contribute large amount of money, under the guise of paying for “public relations activities.”

Many of these new, powerful PACs-dressed-up-like-public-relations companies have told the GOP flat-out that they will no longer be contributing to the GOP to support political elections. Instead, they will select their OWN candidates, who the PR/PACs will themselves select and groom for elections.

For instance, James Dobson’s Family Research Council (according to Paul Hernson’s book, “The Interest Group Connection,” the FRC is affiliated with “FRC Action, a 501(c)(4) lobbying PAC, which was designated, by the Southern Poverty Law Center (in 2010) as an anti-gay hate group.

If you are the director of a California state government agency (like State Parks), and your agency hides taxpayer funds from the auditors – it could be years (if ever) before your fraud is exposed. BUT if you’re an out-of-state conservative group that funds an effort to defeat Jerry Brown’s plan to increase taxes – you’ll be exposed as quickly as possible.

Funny how quickly our state officials can “folow the money” when properly motivated.

And, with our tax dollars….

I don’t want a bunch of Arizona d-bags manipulating California politics. They’ve already screwed up their own state bad enough. Fix what is wrong in Arizona first before messing around in other states’ politics.

You do realize that the other 49 states (that’d be 56 for Obama fans) look at California as the most screwed up? Even in NY or Conn (also very liberal / foolish states) they think CA is a bit of a joke regarding what we do (and don’t).

Still, your point is valid, they should have “hired” a CA-based PAC to influence our voters. That would have been ok, right?

The two situations are far more different than they are similar.

One situation has to do with the hiding of state department funds by state administrators of those departments. In addition, once the fraud was outed, not only did Harris and Brown jump on it like a duck on a june bug, but they widened the investigation to other agencies, as well.

The current situation is being done to overturn the will of the California people by using–as usual–conservative shadow groups to do it. The fact that it IS involving conservative groups is no surprise since the nutball rightwinger elite and their foolish citizen toadies have been pulling this crap for decades now. They go so low that they will even pimp Jesus Christ to win an election.

In addition, the claim that this is targeting conservative groups specifically is patently absurd. If you don’t like the fact that conservative groups are the ones who are champions at pulling this election-stealing crap, then go to the conservative groups because they are the ones who champion this method of stealing elections.

It’s like someone who has been addicted to meth for a decade and is still currently using. The chances are, you are far more likely to find a meth-head smoking meth than you are someone who is not addicted to smoking meth. However, if a cop sees someone smoking meth and arrests them for it, that doesn’t mean he is targeting meth-heads as a class of citizens. If the meth-head hadn’t have been smoking meth, he/she would not have attracted the attention of the authorities.

It would be better if we only allowed left wing judges to decide who got to fund which campaigns. Or maybe all the campaigns should share all their money?

What an odd belief.

This is a half-arsed report. To see what probably really happened, go to Sacbee.com. (The story’s still unfolding — they’ve been updating as they learn more.) What we do know: The FPPC revealed that the $11 million donation from an ARIZONA group, not Nevada, to yes on 32, no on 30 was “money laundering”, or as the Arizona group put it, they had passed through a donation from TWO other national business groups, which wanted to remain secret, and which may or may not be related to the Koch brothers (their p.r. person denies it, others knowledgeable about one of the groups say yes). In any event, we now know for sure that money was laundered in an effort to hide its source, and that is a crime, so this should get interesting. Thank goodness for the FPPC keeping up the pressure on these rich crooks.

Crooks, trying to buy our election from outside.

Vote against big business; every time, all the time. They are crooks.

Even here in River City (SLO), local and outside corporate interests are eating all the charm and value from us for the sake of money. All downtown development is from the big shot scoundrels, getting special deals from our city council.

All the development is from the “big shot scoundrels” because they are the only ones who can afford to pay the extortion fees, exorbitant rents and develop in SLO. The days of “mom and pop” have been gone for quite some time.

Right up there with the Unions. Over 200 unions supporting all these tax increases, but I get that is alright, because it goes from our wallets to their hands with a stop for a Brown payoff….

Unions brought pressure on murderous greedy ***tards, like Isaac Harris and Max Blank , who owned the Triangel Shirtwaist Factory. Educate yourself.

You had to go back 100 years to show us an example of a private sector union getting something right? ;-)

(I’m just poking you with a stick, mary)

No, of course not.

I just hoped that reminding you of the tragedies that occurred before unions organized the poor workers against the rich *ssholes who view them as the equivalent of toilet-paper might bring some reality to your posts.

Actually, I should have sent you a link to a nice read on Union Violence in America over the last 150 years… it’s quite wordy, as it was a scholarly study. If you want, jump to the conclusion of the chapter for a summary read.

Hope this helps quell your anger against those evil robber barons of 100 years ago. If not, at least understand it is almost never a 1-way street.

Post it. What are you waiting for?

Mary: This is not the 20 century but the 21st. If you want to make comparisions for the last 100 plus years regarding unions just look at our education system. Enough said! Come on, move forward and use the Obama 2012 slogan “FORWARD” because that Hope and Change slogan has certainly failed America for the past 4 years as has the unions during the past 101 years.

I’m not an Obama supporter. Are you? You cling to him far, FAR more than I do.

Even if your absurd argument (that “big shot scoundrals”…are the only ones who can afford to pay the SLO city fees for development) is true, that does not in any way excuse the fact that they are crooks, nor does it lessen the overall problems that result in SLO City and the surrounding area that occur because corrupt developers are able to buy whatever power they want from the government.
