December 7, 2012

A big-rig truck hit and killed a pedestrian Thursday afternoon who intentionally walked into oncoming traffic in the Avila Beach area. [KCOY]

The California Highway Patrol determined that the 49-year-old man pulled his Ford pickup over to the right shoulder of southbound Highway 101 near San Luis Bay Drive around 3 p.m. Thursday. The man then left his vehicle and walked into the path of a truck tractor towing a semi trailer.

Paramedics transferred the man to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, but doctors pronounced him dead around 3:40 p.m.

The name of the man is unknown, as is the reason why he walked into oncoming traffic. The Ford pickup is registered to an owner from Paso Robles.

Oceano resident Hector Navarra was driving the tractor truck that collided with the pedestrian.

The collision caused major traffic delays in the area.

Someone suicidal can be as dangerous (grossly negligent) as someone who is homicidal

You should not be posting things as facts that you don’t know what you are talking about. This man also has a family and they do not need to read comments like the ones posted above. Unless you know for a fact what you are saying is true keep your comments to your self and stop slandering this man for his family to read. I do in fact know this man and his family and you could not be further off base here.. The family will have a hard enough time dealing with there lose without having to read trash like the comments above.

Trust me. I know what I’m talking about.

If you really knew him, please tell me his name and what you knew about him. Otherwise quit telling us we don’t know what we are talking about. His name was David Hernandez. He was charged with four felony counts related to child molestation. If you have information indicating otherwise, let us hear it or shut up.

If the guy really molested children….if it’s true, then I’m glad he’s dead.

I read on FB that the man was arrested last week for child molestation and had posted bail. This according to someone who knew him. I feel for all who saw it and especially the truck driver. What an awful memory to have to relive over and over.

What you read on Facebook is true.

Where did you find this information to be completely convinced that it is true

I knew him.

If that is true….then good riddance to bad rubbish. We don’t need people like him in

society.

While my condolences go out to this mans family, I don’t think these people realize the lasting effects that this choice of suicide has on the random, unsuspecting and unwilling participants. I witnessed a young woman intentionally walk in front of a Mac truck many years ago. It wasn’t on a freeway, it was on West Boylston Street in Worcester, MA. I still remember it like it was yesterday although it occurred in the late 70’s, every detail is still etched in my recall, including the soft breeze and the warmth of the sun on my skin in the moments that ensued while I was attempting to make sense out of the nonsensical, everything was in slow motion and the rest I’ll not mention as it is one of the saddest moments in my recollection of life. I can only imagine the long lasting effect that it had on the truck driver who killed this girl through no fault of his own and with no ability to avoid it.

Depression is temporary and there is help for it. There are many medications that alleviate the condition and therapies to assist a person to get pass it. If you don’t want help and you’re dead set on ending it all, please don’t involve other people. It’s enough that somebody will have to find you and that your loved ones will suffer without further adding to the collateral damage.
