San Luis Obispo County supervisor accused of threatening state

California Attorney General Kamala D. Harris

EDITORS NOTE: See Adam Hill’s email calling a state parks official contemptuous, misleading and dishonest at the bottom of this story.

By KAREN VELIE

San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Adam Hill’s “scathing emails” have now caught the attention of California Attorney General Kamala D. Harris.

After reviewing what she called a scathing and threatening email, Harris produced a motion asking the court to include Hill’s correspondence in the court record as part of an action her office filed against the county air district in which Hill is on the board.

Generally, attorneys tell clients involved in lawsuits not to correspond with litigants.

In mid-October, Harris filed the more than 1,800-page claim against San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District (APCD) over its contentious Oceano Dunes dust rule, focusing on the alleged scientific flaws in the APCD’s study.

Earlier this year, both Friends of the Dunes and Kevin Rice filed lawsuits charging the APCD with failing to follow California laws when it passed a rule requiring state parks to reduce particulate matter blowing from the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area, or face fines of $1,000 per day.

In his Nov. 16 email, Hill threatens to fence off part of the Ocean Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area, a state-run park. Hill goes on to say officials with state parks have treated San Luis Obispo County with “contempt,” have acted “dishonestly,” and that they are “better suited to work for the Koch brothers or ExxonMobil.”

Hill’s aggressive email undermined an APCD Board action that he participated in. Just days after the Attorney General filed its action against the APCD, its board  voted to go around state parks and seek help from the Governor’s Cabinet in implementing its dust rule.

On Nov. 14, the board agreed to have the group’s chair, John Hamon, send a letter detailing its concerns.

Nevertheless, just two days later, Hill sent his alleged threatening email to APCD head Larry Allen with copies going to state parks, Secretary for Natural Resource John Laird, Senator Bill Monning, the governor’s chief of staff and a several local elected officials. Hamon, however, failed to send the agreed-on letter.

Hill’s contentious email to the state is one of several he has sent to those who question his or his girlfriend’s actions or views.

On Dec. 18, Hill lashed out at local business owner Bill Thoma for posing questions about a proposed homeless facility and seeking more detailed information from the facility’s planners. Hill’s girlfriend, Dee Torres, heads a local non-profit homeless services division, the group behind the proposed homeless center.

A few days later, Hill apologized for his attack on Thoma, promising to be more civil in the future in his dealings with the public.

Earlier this year, Hill began bullying CalCoastNews’ advertisers. Along with his requests that local advertisers not work with CCN, he falsely claimed the FBI was investigating CCN reporters for fraud, something federal officials have rebutted.

Hill’s campaign against CCN began after he heard its reporters were looking into allegations of financial misdeeds committed against homeless persons by local homeless services employees.

At this time, it is unknown what impacts Hill’s erratic communications will have on the lawsuit against the local APCD or the implementation of the dust rule.

All three lawsuits requesting that the dust rule be overturned are scheduled to be heard in San Luis Obispo County Superior Court on Jan. 24.

Subject: Re: Regarding letter dated Oct. 23, 2012

I would like to make some salient points, and I have also included Secretary Laird, Senator-elect Monning, and the Governor’s Chief of Staff in this email (they are Bcc’ed as I only have their personal email addresses):

1. The current position of the OHV division of State Parks, which now includes suing our county’s Air District, is embarrassing and wholly undermines the Brown administration’s work on air pollution and other important environmental issues. It is my contention that OHV Chief [REDACTED] has treated SLO County with contempt, and has spoken and acted in utterly misleading and dishonest ways.

2. This position will have the effect of forcing SLO County’s hand. All along we have tried to balance the interests of the OHV recreation area with the health concerns of our residents. We believed we could mitigate the dust and keep the recreation area open. But now we will likely be advised by our counsel that State Parks’ actions have left us entirely vulnerable to a slew of legitimate lawsuits from our citizens. This will inevitably necessitate SLO County having to fence off and patrol the Le Grande tract, thereby significantly reducing the recreation area.

3. The embrace of scientific denialism by State parks is incredibly disconcerting in that it only worsens already bad relations between state agencies and local governments and because it is redolent of the worst kind of special interest politics. Perhaps [REDACTED] would be better suited working for the Koch Brothers or ExxonMobil.

In closing, I am hoping that we can arrange a meeting as soon as possible before this escalates further.

Please circulate this to General Jackson as well.

Sincerely,

ADAM HILL

Adam Hill is a poster child for the incompetence of South County conservatives.

It’s beyond ridiculous that they couldn’t unseat this buffoon.

Racket. South County officially starts around North Thompson and 101, which is squarely in district 4. Blame the five or six conservatives in district 3.

I have to say I’ve never heard an argument that an official demarcation exists. I’ve always considered Ontario summit a reasonable delimiter, though I am open and interested in any evidence you can offer that propounds any “official” line.

Check out the GIS on the County website. This is the inland area for south county.

Nice.

I contacted Attorney General Kamala D. Harris.about Board Of realtors Pismo Beach results. Refusing to sell my mother home.. No folks this story is not going away.. As they might be your friends.. I will not let this Board use their lawyer Roy Ogden to use an illness that he says Kate Carson and Tamara Burns McKnight fear and do not have to sell my mother who is 78..Then Bruce Blair and Kate Carson both asked my mother for $5.000 checks when they both knew she could not qualify for a home as long as she was stuck with unit 213 at Ocean Oaks senior living. 4 years my mother paid the mortgage on that place and $1.000 above renters, who did not stay long due to the faulty flooring Kate Carson allowed to have the upper unit install after telling my mother there would never be hardwood floors in any of the upper units. She lied Buyer beware. I have fought this for 4 years.Jason Blankenship and Kate and Tamara had smirks on their faces and drinks after board meeting..They harassed us and told everyone we were crazy..That is how lawyers win as then you lose creditability..I was told to call DA Office Shea senior abuse.. I was told to Call Adan Hill and he told me to call his office and he was going to help us. Blocked us and never replied.I called Grover Beach Chief Copsey. Found out he is close friends with all on the board and the bad brokers who all declined to list that unit. Last Year Century 21 was going to do a short sale. Quit Dec 1 2011.. Think Grover beach did anything.. Or Pismo Beach Police or DA office or Adan Hill? I now have a drafted complaint and I filed 3 citizens complaints in detail on Pismo beach Sheriff Department , DA Shea, Grover beach.. I am all along doing this as they had us blacklisted by all lawyers.. and brokers. Why? To protect Roy Odgen and their brokers who stole from a senior.. This is criminal. You cannot refuse to sell someone’s home..I warn anyone not to use KW. as if you saw my depositions and results on this. You would never use these brokers. Hire only a lawyer if you are ever going to buy in this county..I am trying very hard to protect my mother with dementia.and to see this county.. Let these people free.. Shocks me. All due to a non dis-closer and then making the huge mistake of trying to sell another unit in same complex and cashed the check.Removed the loan contingency.

Now with all my proof I sent it all to Attorney General Kamala D. Harris..She wrote a 2 page letter to me what the DA Shea and police departments have to do by penal code. Step by step and what I did with brokers was perfect and to also contact DRE…Do you think this county officials listened to her and are investigating as she wrote? No.. Matter of fact Grover Beach said she does not have to discuss his action due to a penal code. Retaliation and protecting people who commit crimes. This county decided to cover up everything..Has anyone heard of Water Gate? I sent Attorney General Kamala D. Harris.Chief Copeys reply.. and told her no one else responded. I hope Attorney General Kamala D. Harris has a long talk and does something with these officials who are suppose to protect tier citizens not abuse them.. Thank you Adan Hill for showing your true colors.. Thanks CCN.. for a good job on reporting the facts..

And this has to do with this story because?

Because I called Adam Hill.. He personally told me he would help me with this senior abuse. Money was stolen.. Surfdawg… So I am pleased to see if was not only me.. Many have has issues with this man.. He needs to get out.. In with new responsible county people who do their job.. Way to many seniors.. are hurt here.. I am not going to let anyone off the hook.. Adam Hill lied and blocked our number..Kamala Harris knows this.. See Surfdawg.. She actually can prosecute.. hold people like this accountable. So next time some is abused in this county.. People like Adam Hill does NOT PROTECT them.. Would you have friends who stole from seniors? Then try to get help and the county ignores you.. because everyone is close buddies. This never would have happened any where else but here. I believe this county missed Water Gate as it has covered up for these people who lied stole and abused..If you had done what they did.. You would be in jail with your license revoked..

Isn’t it time this FOOL resigned? I mean, REALLY, talk about a Neanderthal!

Thanks, CCN. I needed that. Nothing like a serving of Adam Hill-related nincompoopery to lift one’s spirits. Adam Hill makes Bozo the Clown look like Abraham Lincoln.

I love these quotes (in italics):

“Generally, attorneys tell clients involved in lawsuits not to correspond with litigants.”

and the reason attorneys tell their clients to keep their mouths shut is because too many clients end up doing something like this:

“In mid-October, Harris filed the more than 1,800-page claim against San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District (APCD) over its contentious Oceano Dunes dust rule, focusing on the alleged scientific flaws in the APCD’s study.

Hill goes on to say officials with state parks have treated San Luis Obispo County with ‘contempt,’ have acted ‘dishonestly,’ and that they are ‘better suited to work for the Koch brothers or ExxonMobil.’ “

which usually ends up creating a client-created mess of epic proportions, which can–if the client REALLY says something stupid– go something like this:

“After reviewing what she called a scathing and threatening email, Harris produced a motion asking the court to include Hill’s correspondence in the court record as part of an action her office filed against the county air district in which Hill is on the board.”

Sorry, I meant Debbie Arnold.

Thankfully, after the first of the year, Debbie Gibson will be sworn in and there will be three grown ups serving on the Board of Supervisors to neuter Hill and Gibson. The days of their adolescent, controlling behavior ruling the board are over. To the people who voted for them, I can only say you should be ashamed.

I don’t care if Hill and Gibson try to control the board.

However, I would very much appreciate it if they’d keep their weiners out of women who have such big conflicts of interest that it causes a morass of knee-pad cronyism the public has to deal with.

In addition, I would REALLY it if Hill and Gibson didn’t try to rip off the taxpayers by using taxpayer funds to pay for the costs related to the maintenance and upkeep of their floozies.

LOL! Debbie ARNOLD. Debbie Gibson is a 1980s pop star.

Brilliant! I’m glad you caught that. I knew I shouldn’t have watched that epispode of the Apprentice last year. I’m still more than happy that Debbie, Frank and Paul will be in the driver’s seat starting on January 7th. I hope lots of people show up and let them know how much they are appreciated when Debbie is sworn in. No need to mention Gibson or Hill. They’re done with politically. They need to grow up.

Oh no has Bruce married Debbie. He is a horny little guy.

I suspect we don’t much agree…but that IS funny !
