“My Jihad” Bus

The Council on American-Islamic Relations is advertising Jihad on the sides of San Francisco buses. [Huffington Post]

CAIR is attempting to reclaim the meaning of the controversial term in its My Jihad campaign that uses billboards on city buses to redefine what it perceives as American misconceptions of an Islamic practice.

“A common misconception of the word ‘jihad’ is that it means armed struggle or holy war,” CAIR Bay Area Chapter head Zhara Billoo told ABC 7. “The proper meaning of jihad, as many of us frequently describe it, is ‘to struggle’ and that’s it.”

Biloo said that the word has been “hijacked” by people “pushing anti-Muslim sentiment.”

So, CAIR is using bus advertising to show Muslims achieving personal goals, such as getting in shape, as a form of jihad.

One ad pictures individuals with varying pigmentation acting friendly and says, “My Jihad is to build friendships across the aisle.”

The Jihad ad campaign follows a series of controversial advertisement on buses in San Francisco and nationwide sponsored by conservative blogger Pamela Gellar’s American Freedom Defense Initiative. Those ads read, “In any war between civilized man and the savage, support the civilized man… Support Israel Defeat Jihad.”

Gellar responded to the pro jihad campaign by submitting counter ads to the San Francisco transit agency, as well as to the Chicago Transit Authority, which first ran the CAIR campaign. Gellar’s proposed series, “That’s #My Jihad. What’s yours?” uses pictures of Islamic advocates of violence, including Osama Bin Laden and Major Nidal Hassan.

Proposed Jihad Ad

Shaped in a similar fashion to the CAIR ads, Gellar’s proposed ads integrate quotes about committing acts of violence in the name of Islam, Allah and Jihad. One says, “Killing Jews is Worship that draws us close to Allah” and is placed next to a man in a headdress that covers most of his face.

Proposed Jihad Ad

Gellar posted photos of the proposed ads on her blog.

Anyone who believes that Islam is a religion of peace in naive.

isoslo,

Only if Islam is followed to the letter in their Holy Book known as the Qu’ran.

Conversely, only if the Christian follows their bible to the letter, does the Christian become a member of an intolerant sect that is saddled with doctrine that goes against all human reason.

A statement by Jesus, and attributed to Him: “But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, AND SLAY THEM BEFORE ME” ( Luke19: 27 )

To expand your value system first go see Django Unchained, what we call entertainment. In my opinion sicko posters on public buses are no different.

.

CAIR’s alleged definition of “Jihad” is, to wit; “The proper meaning of jihad, as many of us frequently describe it, is ‘to struggle’ and that’s it.”

!!! BLATANT BUL*SHIT !!!

“When you clash with the unbelieving Infidels in battle (fighting Jihad in Allah’s Cause), smite their necks until you overpower them, KILLING AND WOUNDING many of them. At length, when you have thoroughly subdued them, bind them firmly, making them captives. Thereafter either generosity or ransom them based upon what benefits Islam until the war lays down its burdens. Thus are you commanded by Allah to continue carrying out JIHAD against the unbelieving infidels until they submit to Islam.” (Quran 47:4 – The following quote is taken from the most trusted Yusufali’s translation of the Qur’an)

What the inspired word of Allah said above can only be said once, and in the literal meaning as shown, and that is as a holy war waged on behalf of Islam as a religious duty against nonbelievers, period! Furthermore, in the same vein as the Qu’ran advises the Muslim in the above verse, they’re also to “strike off the heads of the disbelievers”; and after making a “wide slaughter among them, carefully tie up the remaining captives” (Qu’ran 47:4). Do you remember the beheadings in the news a while back against our fellow citizens? Then the above verses come to mind. Can you spell “J-I-H-A-D?”

CAIR’s anachronistic and erroneous watered down translation of the term “Jihad” is comical upon it’s face. CAIR is trying in vain to rewrite the Qu’ran’s true beliefs, as in the same manner as our pseudo-christian mascot, Cindy, does on many occasions relative to the bible and Christianity.

Does 911 come to mind, and why the fundamentalist Muslims flew passenger aircraft into the Trade Towers? In part, the Fundy Muslim did so because we invaded their Holy Land, and the FACT that they actually followed Allah’s word in the Qu’ran by following the true meaning of “Jihad!!!!!!” Do your homework. 2+2=4.

In the name of RELIGION, many have been needlessly killed since it’s invention.

One mans opinion from a few years ago.

I’ll get beat up for this.

Lets see, Muslim gunman in Texas, in the service no less, opens fire on American service men killing several, Muslims attack the USS COLE and blow a hole in it,Muslims fly airplanes into the world trade center killing thousands, and I could go on and on about these nut jobs, so why haven’t we banned Muslims from this country period.

Applying this same logic to Christians: Christians bomb the Murrah Bldg. in Oklahoma City, Christians molest hundreds of kids under the guise of helping them and then cover their tracks, Christians fake evidence of weapons of mass destruction to justify the invasion of a nation they want to control for other purposes. A Christian in Europe massacres numerous children at a summer camp because he disagrees with their parents political beliefs. So why haven’t we banned Christians from this country period?

I could make the cases for almost every other major religion and for atheism too. It is about individuals and groups within the belief systems not (usually) the belief system itself. So many Americans have been brainwashed into believing that only fundamentalist interpretations of Islam exist that they can’t see that Muslims are almost as varied as Christians in the specifics of their beliefs. This may be understandable given the fundamentalist domination of politics in many Muslim nations but it is not fair to those who think differently.

Fight the fundamentalist fanatics all you want — I will be right with you. But don’t take the intellectually lazy route of tarring every Muslim with the same brush.

We we not talking about Christens or any other group, we are talking about Muslims.

They teach their children to hate everyone else, isn’t that enough for you, I really wouldn’t want to trust any of them.

Myself,

If you want to converse about what the Muslims teach their children, then who is anyone to usurp what Christianity teaches in the following situations?

“If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known . . . thou shalt surely KILL HIM; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of the people. And thou shalt stone him with stones, THAT HE DIE ” (Deuteronomy 13:6-10)

“That whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.” (2 Chronicles 15:13).

“Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them” (Romans 16:17).

Before you turn yourself into a pretzel about not having to follow the Old Testament anymore, and besides of the blatant ramifications of this concept, remember these godly inspired passages first. “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” ( Proverbs 30:5-6 ) Key words; “EVERY WORD of God is pure”, as in the words of the Old Testament writings. Get it?

“It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid.” (Luke 16:17) This passage refers to the Old Testament, period.

Cindy, please, just sit on the sidelines again. Thank you.

The difference is nobody really believes in Christianity–certainly to the extent that we don’t take the bible literally. Christianity in a first world country is basically just an excuse for a person, something that helps simpletons turn their lives around by playing mind games with themselves or gives them a reason to get through another day or provides a means of socializing on Sundays etc.

On the other hand, the Muslims are serious. 10s of millions take Islam literally, possibly 100s of millions. Millions are willing to lay down their lives to enforce their Islamic beliefs. You just don’t see that in Christianity.

The difference is so profound, that I’d venture to say the average Muslim is about equal to our hardest core Christians. And a hardcore Muslim? Well, there’s no equal on the planet.

I have found in my study of islam, that their are no “radical muslims”. Either you follow the koran or you do not.

slojustice,

The true Muslim that follows ALL of the Qu’ran is not radical to them because they’re conditioned that what they’re doing in the name of Jihad is ordained by their version of God; aka, Allah.

The beheadings, killings, torturing, etc., that is Qu’ran inspired, is just part of the act of the Islamic Jihad and is no more radical than us falsely invading Iraq in the name of a Christian nation. You know, the two mutually exclusive concepts of our God verse their God thingy.

Read your Bible lately? Why no stoning to death of adulterers any time lately (except in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan and Pakistan)? Also I believe The Bible instructs the Christian victors to kill all the men, rape all the women, and sell the children of the vanquished. I think the Bible and the Quran are pretty much on the same page. It’s Raiders vs. Broncos, which is your team?

I don’t know where you got the idea that any of those which you branded as “Christians” are indeed Christians. Merely labeling oneself as a Christian does not make you one or even hanging around with or “acting” like Christians supposedly act doesn’t cut it. Why you can even wear your collar backwards or have some nice robes and hats, but that won’t make you a Christian. Here, maybe this Bible verse will clear that up,”You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Can you pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?” Matt 7:16 Quite a few are just fooling themselves and maybe some around them : Matt 7:22 “On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.” 7:23>”But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.” So even though it may suit their purposes to claim the Christian label , it won’t hold water with he whose opinion matters and, you can’t use others behavior as an excuse for your own rejection of the truth.

I love this. The anti-Muslim are using the word Jihad? SERIOUSLY!!!??? I have heard in the last thirty years out of the middle east, some radical group calling for a Jihad against this person or that person or a country. And now (as usual) in their F**CKED up reality it is now our fault? I THINK NOT!!!!

What happened to separation of church and state? These are city and county buses, Islam is a religion. The liberals in San Francisco are quick to separate Christianity from government, why not the same with Islam?

This might be a problem if it weren’t a paid advertisement. It’s one thing for a public agency to support a specific religion but quite another to allow religious organizations to pay to advertise on a nondiscriminatory basis.

It’s one thing to advertise for business purposes, quite another to promote extreme violent mulsim hatred in the name of foreign religion…

The “separation of church and state” that you refer to prohibits government INTERFERENCE in the FREE EXERCISE of religion. What needs to be discovered is if the city/county buses would allow similar inflammatory advertising to be run by other religious groups? I can’t imagine an extremist Christian group being allowed to advertise a modern-day “crusade” against Muslims, for instance. And I think it would be an interesting experiment for an activist group to try it – if they were denied, then they’d have a case for religious discrimination.

The buses are paid for with tax payer dollars.

There is no”separation of church and state” Show me where that is. It is that the government cannot establish a religion.”Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Agreed, but the liberals don’t see it that way

How far would Focus on The Family get if it tried to buy advertising on SF MUNI buses? Interesting debate, as though they are a government agency part of their funding is from private advertising, for which the idea is to maximize revenue to limit the need for fare increases and additional taxes.
