Los Angeles priest raped immigrant boys

Confidential letters filed as evidence in a civil case against Father Nicholas Aguilar Rivera reveal that church leaders protected Monsignor Peter Garcia and several other priests who sexually abused boys.

Garcia threatened to have one boy deported if he came forward to law enforcement with sexual abuse allegations. A monsignor documented the case in a letter to an archbishop.

“The priest took him to the jail and instructed him to either behave or else he would end up either in jail of back in Mexico,” the letter reads. “He was supposedly told if you talk, I have lawyer friends and I will surely have you deported.”

Garcia, who died in 2009 without ever facing prosecution, admitted to sexually abusing boys since his ordination in 1966. Letters describing Garcia’s behavior documented incidents, such as the priest tying up a young boy and raping him in Lancaster.

Former Archbishop of Los Angeles Roger Mahoney discussed strategies of shielding Garcia from prosecution in confidential letters. In 1986, Mahoney wrote to a New Mexico treatment center protecting Garcia and treating pedophile Clergy.

“I believe that if Monsignor Garcia were to reappear here within the archdiocese we might very well have some type of legal action filed in both criminal and civil sectors,” Mahoney wrote.

Still, Garcia returned to Los Angeles in 1987 and left the priesthood in 1989 after refusing to take medication to suppress his sexual urges.

My wife and I have been a part of the Retrouvaille program for over 25 years. The weekend is a lot like Marriage Encounter weekends but much harder hitting. We were a presenting couple on more than 250 weekends. Three couples and a Priest give the weekends. Actually saved our marriage 29 years ago when we attended a weekend. Took us 20 years of misery before we decided to go.

My wife and I interacted with hundreds of Priests over the years. All the ones we talked to about this subject were appalled with what is going on in the church. They all agreed that the perpetraters deserved jail and counciling like any other criminal. Our Catholic Church was in trouble and must make changes.

The perverts are everywhere and in every church. I suggest we find an island and dump them all on it. Might help them find goodness and love. Christ’s love is exactly what they need. Make the perverted Priest’s as vulnerable as their victims. Maybe they will crawl to Him for help.

We raised a little girl that had been molested. We took her to counciling and play therapy for over 2 years, 2 and three times a week. She was only 2 years old when when it happened. I wanted to kill the guy that did it to her. I tried but the police stopped me. He did go to jail but so what, her term was much longer than his. She has greatly improved and by the time she was 7 she was telling kids in her school about “good touch, bad touch” “And not to let anyone do that to them”. The teacher told us that our little girl was very brave and told the kids that had happened to her when she was young..

Jail is not enough. Maybe we should let the parents decide the punishment. (unfortunately they would end up in jail. But maybe not).

God Bless all these hurting children. May Our Lord wrap his healing warm arms around them.

It does not seem natural for a man not to be able to marry or at least enjoy ‘close quarters’ with females. Therefore this is what happens when a male is all choked up with natural desire. Better they are allowed to marry. It is alarming that the Catholic Church does not instantly turn these kind in to law enforcement ASAP. That in itself is a ungodly act not to do so. NO EXCUSE

Interesting that the Catholic chruch reminds me so much of politics. The masses of people by and large for the most part follow the rules, while the ones at the top think rules are only for the minions.

I was raised catholic and went to catholic school for years. Haven’t gone to church regularly since my mid twenties but I still feel bad for the people of the church that invest their time and money into it to be screwed over like this. Again kind of like our Govt. Sad, sad indeed.

Worse than this; just think of 500 years of buggery in South and Central America! It just has to have beengoing on there too.

Well, you all must see this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpuYoK6wv_Y

I lived in Santa Barbara at the time that the priest-pedophilia issue was just about to become public–decades ago.

I know some one very well, a therapist, who was asked by the church to be part of a panel addressing the issue at St. Anthony’s.

This therapist agreed, but soon resigned because it was his opinion that the main goal of the church was not interested in stopping the pedophilia and helping those children who had been harmed by the church’s priests, but, rather, to cover it up and “de-fang” the claims of those who were harmed.

At about the same time, I had another friend who had recently left the priesthood, and who had been a priest at St. Anthony’s up until the time he left service. He left service because he had fallen in love with a woman. They married and had children. The last time I heard of them, they were still married and their eldest child was starting college.

What is interesting is that this ex-priest knew what was going on at St. Anthony’s, and said, “There is a reason that the code at St. Anthony’s was ‘never be in groups of two.’ ” It was to both half-a@@edly protect the students, but also to make it more difficult for the priests to single out a student from the “herd” to molest.

This stories “cover up” by the hell bound Catholic Church pales in comparison to their overall pedophile cover-up in 1962, where they issued a document entitled ‘Crimine solicitationies’ that was produced and had the seal of Pope John XXIII. This secret document was handed to every Bishop worldwide to show them how to cover up sexual abuse cases by their pedophile priests!

The ‘Crimine solicitationies’ document proves that there was an international conspiracy by the Roman Catholic Church to cover up sexual abuse issues. It is a devious attempt to conceal criminal conduct and is a blueprint for deception and concealment. This document’s instructions outline a policy of ’strictest’ secrecy in dealing with allegations of sexual abuse and threatened those who spoke out about it with excommunication.

To make matters worse, in May of 2001, letters were sent out stating that the infamous 1962 doctrine was in still in force. Now, get this, these ungodly letters were signed by Cardinal Ratzinger!!! At this time, he was the most powerful man in Rome beside the Pope, and who headed the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith – the same office which ran the Inquisition in the Middle Ages!

All Catholics must feel so proud in knowing that their hard-earned money that they drop in the collection plates on Sunday mornings, for the most part, goes to paying off settlements and attorney fees in the defense of their pedophile priests that they tried to cover-up. Notwithstanding, they must accept the FACT that their current Pope, Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger, acknowledged the pedophile cover-up by signing the aforementioned 1962 letters and said absolutely NOTHING about this ungodly act!

Sidebar: The Catholic Church is wealthy beyond imagination. If they were true to form as Jesus preached in taking care of the poor of this world, THERE SHOULD NOT BE ONE RED-CENT WITHIN THEIR BANK ACCOUNTS, PERIOD! Can we spell h-y-p-o-c-r-i-t-e-s? Sure we can.

The children are innocent, and susceptible to evil. It is hard to protect them from people that are assumed to be good because of the position they hold. This priest took advantage of children living in fear because of their illegal status. Children are vulnerable and it is our duty to protect them. I think to cover up these despicable acts is criminal, and just as evil…

This perversion is endemic within any sector of control or law inforcement.
