Teen robbed and assaulted in San Luis Obispo

carSan Luis Obispo police are looking for a man who robbed and assaulted a 17-year-old male walking through the parking lot across from Big Sky Café on Broad Street at about 10:45 p.m. on Friday, police said.

The suspect approached the teen, who was walking through the parking lot with his skateboard, and demanded the board.

The teen refused and the man punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground. The man grabbed the skateboard, kicked the teen in the stomach and fled the scene in a white Nissan Altima with tinted windows.

Witnesses told police the man was challenging others to fight and yelling “Bakersfield” prior the assault. Witnesses describe the suspect as an Hispanic male, about 30-years-old, with face and neck tattoos, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 250 pounds.

Emergency medical personnel treated the victim for a facial injury at the scene and released him.

Um -I think we have lost sight of the fact that a local teen was assaulted and robbed. That skateboard was probably around $100 (or more if a long board) and was obviously the kid’s transportation home.


Can we focus on the victim here? It would be very encouraging to this young victim if the police started trying to find the suspect – he probably already has an arrest record . How about letting him see some mug shots from Bakersfield? I hope the police make an aggressive search for him because inaction will just sour this kid on the police and their supposed interest in protecting and serving citizens. But I am not going to hold my breath on that – it’s just a kid, a skateboarder no less, and hey, it’s only a misdemeanor and there are other far more important cases to solve like drunken college students and trash cans left out too long.

Here is another kid, got to be a gang member cause he is madd. Mommy didn’t breast feed him when he was a baby. Some peoples kids. JMO

I was doing some business in Bakersfield and found it to be a very friendly town. Lots of dispensary’s and people who care. I think you people in SLO are a little jealous since their crime rate per capita is probably lower than yours.


Every place I went the people were nice. Either side of the freeway the folks were nice and polite. Asked random strangers for directions and they were very helpful. No heads in the air thinking they are better than others. At least that’s the impression I got.


I can’t stand SLO. Too many stop lights. The city is not nearly as clean as Bakersfield. Get off your high horse and look around. Maybe pick up some trash on the ground. Happiest city in the world needs a refit. Or a writer that is truthful.

You’re absolutely right. San Luis Obispo is actually a horrible little town and I don’t know why anyone would come here over Bakersfield. So if you’re in Bakersfield, or Fresno for that matter, and you’re thinking about coming out here, don’t bother. Your city is way nicer and you’ll have way better time by staying there.


It may surprise you, but don’t think you’ll find anyone here in SLO who’s going to argue with you. Most of us really aren’t interested in trying to sell anyone on the benefits of coming here.

I advise people not to come here to live. Visiting is okay. Always an eye opener to visit SLO. Houses are waaaay over-priced for what you actually get. I think all of you all ready know that. I do love the Mission though. Beautiful place to worship.


San Luis Obispo is alot like San Francisco. Trend setting to the end.


Also a great college. My neice just recently graduated from there. Ah, another special ed teacher in the family. That makes three. One of which was teacher of the year.

I come from a long line of people with 142+ I.Q’s. Smart and good looking. Are you surprised I’m not living in SLO?

Bakersfield crime rate lower then SLO? SLO sets trends like SF? Seriously I think you’re a freaking window licker.

Actually I got through all the tests except the last one. Failed it miserably. I made a mess out of my chances. Still intelligent just not intelligent enough. My neice and sister are members though.


Unlike a lot of people I would scrape fly poop off windows to make money to feed my family. Never tried actually licking the windows though. How’s the taste?

They differ in no way whatsoever, apart from geographical location.


I despise gang thugs–white, black, Asian, Hispanic, whatever. Gang thugs are vile criminals who hurt innocent people, deface property, steal and destroy.

You’re right, and in no way am I trying to excuse the behavior of anyone. As individuals we are responsible for our own actions, no matter what has happened “to us.” However as far as policy, we have exacerbated this problem greatly with our judicial/.prison system and the destruction we have brought upon communities and families. It is very easy to find contradictions in how we treat people who violate the law from rich white communities compared to those from poor and minority communities. Our perceptions lead to self fulfilling prophecies.
