carA probationer led officers on a chase from Oceano to Santa Maria on Sunday before crashing her vehicle.

At 6:20 p.m., a San Luis Obispo County Sheriff deputy spotted Jeanne Sepeda, 32, driving near the intersection of 19th and Paso Robles streets in Oceano. The deputy attempted to pull over Sepeda, who was wanted under a felony warrant for breaking her probation.

Sepeda and her passenger, Steven Vega, 23, fled from deputies through Oceano, Nipomo, and onto Highway 101 south towards Santa Maria. California Highway Patrol officers and Santa Maria police took over the pursuit in Santa Maria. The vehicle pursuit ended when Sepeda’s car was involved in a collision on Broadway.

Both Sepeda and Vega fled on foot. However, within minutes of the collision, CHP officers located both suspects in Big 5 Sporting Goods and later handed them over to sheriff deputies.

Deputies booked Sepeda and Vega into the San Luis Obispo County Jail. Vega has been released while Sepeda is being held without bail on charges of felony DUI causing bodily harm, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and revocation of probation.

We need a Nascar track here in the central coast rather than using our public roads.

Throw the book at them both.
