Caren Ray

Governor Jerry Brown appointed Arroyo Grande Councilwoman Karen Ray to fill the vacant fourth district seat on the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors, sources told CalCoastNews Thursday.

Ray will succeed Paul Teixeira, who died of a heart attack in June, and will serve the remaining 15 months of his term.

Teixeira’s term concludes in January 2015. Ray must win election to keep the position. A primary election for the fourth district seat is scheduled for June 2014.

Ray is expected to join Supervisors Bruce Gibson and Adam Hill to reestablish a liberal-leaning majority on the Board of Supervisors. Hill and Ray were spotted meeting in July while Hill was supposed to be attending an Air Pollution Control District meeting.

This outcome proves it: Helping Caren Ray get appointed was more important to the community than attending the APCD meeting. Hill got it right on this one. Good job!

Here is another case where Kevin Rice’s attacks on a worthwhile candidate backfired. Politician’s and the electorate have learned to reject those who Rice supports and support those who Rice attacks.

How on Earth is neglecting one’s responsibilities and obligations simply to engage in cronyism getting it right?

You truly live in a twisted world.

I live in the REAL world.

Congratulations to Caren Ray!

(It would have been a huge mistake for Hill to have attended that APCD meeting where selfish interests were hoping to get away with something that was not in the best interest of the community.)

1. Ray does not deserve congratulations because she is ill-suited for the position.

2. When Hill didn’t show up for the APCD meeting, it showed him to be the coward he is. You show up for the meetings and deal with the issues, negative and positive, that arise. You don’t cower behind the excuse of having to be with your girlfriend’s sick child, and then go have coffee and attend activities. Hill used a child as a shield to hide from criticism. There isn’t much more cowardly than that.

Hill’s avoidance of the meeting was well-founded and reasonable POLITICAL STRATEGY aimed at blocking a vote that was being rammed through while important people were not able to be in attendance.

Your comments are not accurate and misleading and seemingly purposely deceptive.

There was nothing “cowardly” about Hill’s political maneuvering on this one. Get real, please.

Come on. He used Dee Torres’ supposedly sick child as an excuse for not attending the meeting. Dee Torres was out of town at the time. Hill, instead of actually staying with the sick child, instead went and had a cozy meeting with Caren Ray. When he was outed by CCN, Hill went berserk with his usual chest-pounding pre-simian buffonery.

Only a coward uses a sick kid for a shield for failure to perform on responsibilities.

WiserGuy says:”It would have been a huge mistake for Hill to have attended that APCD meeting where selfish interests……”

Right, like the GOP Congress, if you dont like something stall and obstruficate until you can get what you want. Much like a small child avoiding his chores.

Yes “selfish interests” Hill has them too.

Someone correct me if I am wrong here, but is this not the lady that belonged to that special little party group that loved to run nake over by Walmart. Please, correct me if I am wrong here!

Not so pitiful. It appears she may fit in just fine with the lifestyles of Hill and Gibson and probably their political viewpoints as well. Oh well here we go again.

about as pitiful as an average thursday night bowling league, is

there anything of substance to actually say about hash house

harriers besides funny nicknames and double entendres ?

Unless “an average thursday night bowling league” engages in illegal activities in public and then is stupid enough to post about it online, then, no, Caren Ray’s behaviors are not “as pitiful as an average thursday night bowling league.” They are illegal, and she used pathetically poor judgment in bragging about it.

She was running naked in public places (and how pathetic is that for an adult to do to get their jollies?) and supporting the illegal consumption of an illegal substance (hash) while she was a teacher.

Quite an example to set before her students. We can expect no better from her as county supervisor.

We already have two sex-obsessed county supervisors, who have abused the power of office, and engaged in many conflicts of interest to benefit their sex partners.

So now we are stuck with yet another supervisor who has just as poor judgment as does the two sitting supervisors? At least Gibson has a broad knowledge about water issues. Ray has….blond hair.

You by into the carefully worked attack article instead of the facts. The article is filled with innuendo and commentary from someone who did not even live in the town. Just an attempt to create a story for some unknown gain. No where does she acknowledge running naked nor is there a single mention of hash. Go find a single other article that supports this hack job.

Again, you will find lots of articles attesting to her commitment to service and her strong record a council woman.

1. Witnesses to an event do not have to live in the same town as where the event occurred. Otherwise, there would be many, many witnesses to the Boston Marathon bombing who would be unable to be used as witnesses to what they witnessed.

2. Guilty people often don’t acknowledge their guilt. That is why we have detectives and investigators.

No witnesses were provided just the typical Kevin rice ambush and innuendo. To say someone denied or responded to something to create a sound bite is meaningless.

“MaryMalone”, you have now sunk to an even lower level of sleazy, deceptive, mean-spirited mudslinging. You should really be ashamed of yourself, but I wouldn’t expect that of you.

The more you write about these issues that create such an over-emotional reaction in you, the more your comments disgrace you and those you seemingly trying to “support.”

You are certainly not doing that guy Mike Winn any good, that’s for sure. Do you honestly think he would want to be publicly associated with “MaryMalone” or her comments?

Get real, please!

Having trouble supporting your opinion? You seem to be reduced to three paragraphs of ad-hominem attacks.

I stand by what I wrote.

Citizen says:”Pitiful, isn’t it?”

Hardly, what we have here is freedom to assembly.

Just because you don’t like someones spare time activity does not mean it’s wrong, it means you like to ad-hominem attack people.

“An Ad Hominem is a general category of fallacies in which a claim or argument is rejected on the basis of some irrelevant fact about the author of or the person”

Running naked in a public place is illegal. Posting about it online is stupid. Caren Ray is guilty of both.

Criticizing her behaviors which make her totally wrong for any public position is not an ad hominem argument. It is speaking to her ability to conduct herself in the position to which she has been stupidly appointed by Governor Brown.

but you have no facts. no where is she indicated as running naked and the comments refer to another at an unidentified location that you have decided is public.

“Hashing is a state of mind –

a friendship of kindred spirits joined together for the sole purpose of reliving their childhood or fraternity days, releasing the tensions of everyday life, and generally, acting a fool amongst others who will not judge you or measure you by anything more than your sense of humor.”

Ok, thanks for the opportunity. You are wrong.

That political hit piece article is so full of inaccuracies, it’s embarrassing.

Yes, she did belong to a local hash group, that is the extent that you are correct.

You mean the one that played the drinking game then ran around sans clothing.

I think that should be a basic qualification for the office. Would definitely lighten the mood.

What else to expect from Gov. Brown….always and forever a disappointment. Was there a better choice, yes, but politics always comes to the surface.

always and forever – well that says it all

I think she’s hot

So does Adam!

yesh! Adam looks haught sometimes too.

…much to Dee’s dismay.

More gossip mongering that does the world more harm than good.

“hot” as in, “Hey doc, it really burns” ?

Ahh,now there are three worthless Amigos, there will be more back room deals and back stabbing going on like you’ve never seen, this isn’t going to end well for anyone.

I think I remember watching that movie too.

the truth the horrible truth and nothing but the truth

You think people might give a person at least a day on the job before you conclude how they are going to perform. Her record indicates a very independent and intelligent public servant.

Oh my, she has also been seen with Tony Ferraro, Katcho Achadjian, and many many others. That is part of the job for a city official.

Good choice.

OH Boy !

I can already hear the howls from the COLAB lobbyists and the Teabagger brigade of banshees with pitchforks !

… and the ovations from the trust funders and civil servants that aren’t particularly concerned with a vibrant economy.

That makes no sense, what is the relationship or stereotype you are proposing.

This just in…The Hash House Harriers are holding a party tonight at Cherry Drop’s in honor of Ray’s appointment.

Whips and Chains are optional.

You mean, “SLO Cop-You-Later” ? (her nickname).

Glad she’s not teaching my kids… oh, and what a surprise… social sciences… *sigh*
