Morro Bay councilman says vehicle code not for locals

November 29, 2013

Morro Bay Councilman George Leage said last week that only non-locals are prohibited from parking in Morro Bay red zones, according to a video submitted by a resident.

Leage, who was standing outside his residence at his family’s sushi restaurant Off the Hook, moved his red SUV out of the red zone shortly after noting it was properly parked.

Nevertheless, California Vehicle Code along with a Morro Bay City ordinance forbids parking in a red zone.

“Red indicates no stopping, standing, or parking, whether the vehicle is attended or unattended. Except that a bus may stop in a red zone marked or sign posted as a bus loading zone,” according to the California Vehicle Code Section 21458.Screen Shot 2013-11-26 at 3.40.31 PM

This council man has some other issues of things that he feels don’t apply. Things like paying his bills. He owes $40k to a local seafood vendor and that is no chump change for any company, no matter how big. It’s also pretty common knowledge that he’s frequently driving around town in state that would get anyone else arrested for DUI. As the bay flushes….

Theo….and we owe another 50 grand on our house. And your point is?

If you listen to the video, George clearly states that he owns all three restaurants. As always George runs the circus. Just because he puts family members names on the deed of ownership doesn’t mean they really “own” the businesses. Just a way to beat the system. That’s the way George rolls. As for never getting busted for DUI? Great question. Could it be his Mini Me volunteer buddy who is always at Georges places drinking along with George helps him out?

All this bickering about who is right or wrong, who painted it or not, who can park or not is absolutely ridiculous. No one is changing their position.

I think Mr. Leage, a councilman, elected by the people of Morro Bay, not the businesses of the waterfront, not the developers, not any special interest group, etc. but all the people should just do the right thing, contact the public works department, get this fixed and any other illegally painted curb as he indicated in the video that there was another one right there and then we can all just move on. This is wrong since he took advantage of a situation and I think as an elected official he needs to right this and then let’s move on to the bigger issues at hand.

Enough already!
