Former police department janitor sentenced for child molestation

An Atascadero man was sentenced on Friday to 15 years to life in prison for repeatedly molesting two sisters. [Tribune]
Miguel Angel Zuranich, 45, pleaded guilty to molesting the sisters who are now ages 14 and 22. Zuranich began molesting both the girls when they were about seven years old and continued until the eldest was 12 and the younger sister was 9.
A native of Peru, Zuranich moved to San Luis Obispo County 15 years ago and had been working at the San Luis Obispo Police Department as a janitor when the investigation began.
After the younger sister informed her sibling of the abuse, they reported the molestations to the Atascadero police. The elder sister called Zuranich from the department and asked him why he had molested her. He apologized and said he was sick. He then confessed to police.
