OPINION by SAUNDRA MURRAY KING

It’s time for the masses to gather together and protest against the subjective cruelties of San Luis Obispo County Child Welfare Services. While we do need to have a watchdog for the protection of our children, it’s another thing when they use subjective decisions to demonstrate an abusive power — a power that tears families apart and subjects the children to more abusive behavior.

Karen Velie’s grandchildren are in the custody of CWS. They were originally supposed to be in CWS custody for a couple of days for a “dirty house.” That was in July. They are still in custody and are only given a one hour visit a week with their mother. The children are depressed and suffering. Who is the county trying to punish?

Enough is enough! Help bring the kids back home by joining me at a rally Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 8:30 a.m. in front of the County Government Center at 1055 Monterey Street in San Luis Obispo. Bring signs to send a message to the County Board of Supervisors that it is unacceptable to ignore suffering children.

It’s time for a good, old fashioned protest. It’s time to let everyone know that we will stand up and make our voices heard. It’s time to do our part to right a wrong. It’s way past time for CWS to do their proper job and reunite Karen Velie’s family.

See you Tuesday morning.

I 100% completely believe that CWS is making it as difficult as possible on this family!!! I can further understand Karen’s position, until they close the case. The case has not closed why??? WARNING red flag. Be very CAUTIOUS!!!! Either they have met the petition (open case) or not….

CPS is keeping it opened and this should make you stop and think…

CPS is now allotted more time (but of coarse, claiming they are following the case plan) to further allege ridiculous allegations-anything to substantiate their case.

Anyone who has had the unfortunate (first hand experience) knows this is how they play their game. Keep a careful watch. Until this case is closed.

Karen and her family from my understanding have a substantial amount of support.

I am a stranger, but have a common thread, I have gone before, so I speak from personal experience.

It is unbelievable, CPS, a living nightmare until they are out of your life. Many others families have been impacted by the system. You are not alone and Karen you will get through this.

As 2013 comes to a close, it’s count down to shut down CPS what a great goal for the

New Year.

Never underestimate the power of prayer!!!

Just as the Gov’t shut down, drastic cuts are on the way to the San Luis Obispo County Superior Court system, including employee furloughs, service cuts and even the shutdown of a courthouse. Grover Beach closed!

SLO courts could be next…… 2014 will bring drastic changes as to how CPS/CWS does business.

Many Blessings to all and Happy New Year+

+Merry Christmas to the Velie family+

You are in my thoughts and wrapped in prayers!!!

I’m hearing more and more from homeless young couples in town that the management at the Prado Day Center phones CWS while they are visiting the Center and their child is taken from them.

The Prado Day Center is supposed to be a place for people to gain safe haven each day but this occurs. I witnessed one couple phone in to Dave’s show myself, at the time who were being denied shelter at the Maxine last March or so.

SLO is incredibly absurd.
