Nicholas Teausant had also planned to attack the Los Angeles subway system in January 2014, according to a U.S District Court complaint. However, FBI agents discovered the plan and it was discarded.

In mid-2013, Teausant first wrote his desire to join al-Qaida on Instagram, “don’t get me wrong I despise america and want its down fall but yeah haha. Lol I been a part of the army for two years now and I would love to join Allah’s army but I don’t even know how to start.”

Teausant continued to make online posts and searches on how to become a terrorist. On Oct. 3, 2013, the FBI launched an investigation into Teausant’s activities. Information gathered included the plan to attack the Los Angeles subway system.

Federal agents arrested Teasant after he boarded a bus for Canada with plans to then fly to Syria to fight with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.

“The people you call terrorist aren’t really terrorist they are just doing what your too afraid to do, the government fears these people and that’s why they are called terrorist,” Teausant posted on Facebook on March 9.

Here is your “terrorist”. https://www.facebook.com/nicholas.teausant

This is ridiculous. You people should be hopping mad that we are no longer free. Haven’t you ever seen the movie Brazil? This kid is NOT a terrorist!

Just like the Tsarneav brothers, just a normal looking guy who posts on facebook.

mkaney, you must understand that most people here are more than willing to give up freedom and liberty for the illusion of safety and comfort. The same kind of thinking and trade-offs that got us the wonderful Patriot Act, the TSA, and total passes for the FBI, CIA and NSA.

I’ve gone from “we’re doomed” to “we’re damned” – it’s only a matter of time now.

Well said, both terrorist threats and feints continues and (George Orwell’s Animal Farm and 1984) Big Brother grows even bigger.

Who could anyone have ever imagined that government can now have the capabilities to ease drop on virtually every massive form of communication and monitor any individual who write or utter any of their selected key words or phrases, as well as video them from as far as space satellites and even photo them through walls.

mkaney, While I agree that we are no longer free what with the Patriot Act and eschalon (sp) etc. This guy is about a lot more than what can be gleamed on his face book page. Did you read the article? He was on his way to join al-Qaida. He wanted to blow us up, he hates Americans. He was posting this stuff and it wasn’t on his face book page, WTF?

Cindy this guy would never have made it to Syria. Furthermore, he was on his way to go join rebels in Syria, rebels that WE ARE FUNDING.

Are you saying that the FBI is lying about all of this? There are plenty of outspoken patriots who don’t like and challenge the control that our government has been employing. Why single out Teausant unless he is clearly about the destruction of his Country rather than disenchanted like the rest of us?

I’m not saying they lied about it. What I am saying is that a)stupid people say stupid things and b) you can get stupid people to say stupid things by encouraging them. I would imagine there are hundreds of thousands of people that say similar stuff every day.

They aren’t going to go after outspoken partriots because more people would defend them and the FBI counterterrorism effors would be discredited quickly. They generally find people who have converted to Islam in prison, and set them up with FBI informants who egg them on, say they will give them backing, and even offer to provide the weapons. You will always be able to convince a stupid person to do stupid things, but left to their own devices, stupid people are incapable of pulling anything off. Often it is just their frustration that is motivating them to say things, things that they would never actually do.

When I was in college I remember one guy who had a Mao Communist Manifesto (A little Red Book)

He read one part that said it is good for the cause when innocent are persecuted.

Since Bush Jr. Era and historically even before many innocent have been persecuted.

To top it all the US trained Bin Laden.

Big Brother (1984 & Animal Farm) gets bigger.

Haven’t you folks observed how the U.S. government works? When was the last time they got a domestic terrorist that was ACTUALLY a terrorist> People say stupid things, but until they commit a crime they are not a criminal! Quit letting the government convince you of things when 99.99% of the time when the details come out it turns out they were WRONG.

Not true because attempting a criminal act is a crime. If I want to have my wife killed and meet with a hitman to formulate a plan, and the hitman turns out to be an FBI agent, I’m not a murderer, but I am a criminal.

If you read the unabridged story there are a few details not mentioned above such as, “Investigators said Teausant discussed his scheme at length with a person who turned out to be a paid FBI informant, repeatedly affirming that he was serious about it.”

…and “The informant put Teausant in contact with a “mentor” — in reality, an undercover federal agent — who could purportedly approve his efforts to join the extremists. Early this month, the “mentor” blessed Teausant’s travels, and he boarded a train for Seattle on Sunday night, the complaint said.”

He is not charged with terrorism. He is charged with “attempting to provide support to a foreign terrorist organization”. (max penalty 15 years and $250k fine)

Yeah but if you wouldn’t ordinarily have your wife killed, and a guy comes to you and tries to convince you that you should and then talks you into it, that would be ENTRAPMENT. And that is exactly what these PAID informants are doing. They’re not even FBI agents generally, they’re just the lowest form of life seeking to entrap people for a buck.

The National Guard needs to review their recruiting standards.

The National Guard can only be fixed one way, put USMC DI’s in charge of training.

That is an idiotic statement. First of all, this guy never went to basic training, as he failed to meet academic standards. So the constant references to him as a National Guard soldier are inaccurate and piss me off. Secondly, all National Guard soldiers go to basic training at one of the active Army BCT posts, which are Fort Jackson, SC; Fort Benning, GA; Fort Knox, KY; Fort Leonard Wood, MO or Fort Sill, OK. I can tell you from personal experience that the training and discipline are plenty tough. The National Guard has taught the USMC some things in recent years, most notably the development of agribusiness development teams (ADT) which send soldiers out into the hinterlands of Afghanistan to teach modern agriculture to the Afghans to try to help them enter the 21st century. Lastly, and my father was a Marine and I deeply respect the USMC, but as a National Guard NCO some of the most dicked-up soldiers I’ve had to deal with are former Marines who came over to the Guard and think their shit doesn’t stink. The Marines and the Army are different and each has their specialty. The Army and the Guard don’t need your suggestions or help. Thanks anyway.

Give him a parachute and drop him into Taliban occupied territory in Afghanistan. He should be happy and then we can get back to helping citizens who need assistance.

Why? Let his parents (how proud they must be) buy his ticket and fund his extra-curricular activities.

One of my kids, while in elementary school, had a classmate that was proud to be a socialist like his parents. He would say that. Without shame or embarrassment. At age 8 or whatever.

The fact that this kid is a member of the National Guard and may have had access to weapons is quite disconcerting.

Makes me wonder what he is being taught about the US in his Central California college. Have fun in Gitmo, Nicholas!

His parents must be so proud.

Yeah yeah sure, people have given him a hard time because he’s so geeky looking, so now he wants to blow us all up. Glad they got a hold of him and he’s lucky he didn’t make it to his overseas destination. They probably would have abducted and tortured him as a spy. Yup and they would have been laughing at him while he demanded his right to “due process”.

Posted it all online? Funny.

Best thing about guys like this is how incredibly stupid they are.

I’ll add this “gentleman” to my who raises these vermin to my research list..
