UCSB professor battles anti-abortion group

An anti-abortion group is asking officials to prosecute a University of California Santa Barbara associate professor of feminist studies for taking one of their signs and destroying it.

On March 4, Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust were passing out pamphlets and holding signs with graphic images of dead fetuses. Professor Mireille Miller-Young began yelling for the signs to be removed.

Miller-Young then grabbed a sign, gave it to two of her students and headed for her office with several anti-abortion activists following with a camera.

“I may be a thief but you’re a terrorist, Miller Young said as she walked away.

After Miller Young and her students entered an elevator, the activists attempted to follow and pushing ensued.

UC Santa Barbara police have sent a police report of the incident to the Santa Barbara District Attorney’s Office which will determine if criminal charges of theft and vandalism will be filed against Miller Young.

The American Taliban alive and well. Religious fundamentalists are a cancer on the world. Protect the life of the unborn but destroy the living that disagree with insane fanatic dogma. The sympathy with the protesters here is disgusting.


Ironic that you should speak of fanaticism and sanity. Exactly who or what was destroyed by these protesters?


…and I am not sure if what you see here is sympathy with the protesters, rather people who are big enough to know right from wrong. Something that obviously is missed by some.

We thank you for admitting, in a round about way, that the Hebrew God of the bible was wrong when he killed innocent fetus’ and babies by smashing them against the rocks and commanding that women with child should be ripped open and their fetus’ removed and killed.


It takes a strong man to admit this in front of the God he worships.

Big enough to attack and harass a pregnant women over a sign? I repeat: protesting for the rights of the unborn and attacking a PREGNANT women- that is right with you?

They should READ their bible instead of using it as a door stop, like I proffered in the older comments section on page one. Most are nothing but pseudo, cultural Christians, in name only, and don’t realize that their version of God, the Hebrew one in the bible, was the biggest abortionist known to man. But, this is their foundation for their beliefs. Hypocrites.

The title of this should read “UCSB professor attacks anti-abortion group”. Is freedom of speech only acceptable when it expresses your view?


That seems to be the mantra of the Left. Look how they used the IRS to shut off speech they didn’t like, the so called Fairness Doctrine, etc.


Mireille Miller-Young is quite the violent bully. She should be place on administrative leave and fired.


I have waffled back and forth on this issue for years until I started thinking about it in terms of the foundation of our society:


“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness…”


My sense of personal Liberty dictates that 2 people ( a man & a woman, a man and a man, a woman and a woman, or whatever ) are free to conduct themselves in a manner that they see fit without interference from the government.


However, creating a baby means that there are now 3. One of the most basic tenants of government is protecting the very weakest and most vulnerable of our society. I can think of no other instance where humans are more vulnerable & weak than before birth.


Given all of this, I firmly believe, based in no small part on our Declaration of Independence’s language, that our Civil Rights are in place from the moment of creation. As such, we are all entitled to due process under the law before being dealt a death sentence; something that does not happen in the course of an abortion.


Again, I am firmly in favor of individual Liberty. I just believe that Liberty starts at the moment of creation. After all, there can be no Liberty without life.


In the words of a great philosopher, whose name eludes me; “Can’t we all just get along?”


I guess not.
