Body of UCSB student found on Isla Vista beach

A bicyclist spotted the body of a 20-year-old UCSB student lying on a beach beneath an Isla Vista cliff Sunday morning. [KEYT]
Emergency responders arrived shortly after 7 a.m. Sunday and ruled Sierra Markee-Winkler dead at the scene. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of Markee-Winkler’s death.
“At this point, we don’t know whether she drowned or fell off the cliff,” said Santa Barbara County sheriff’s spokeswoman Kelly Hoover.
Last year, Cal Poly student Giselle Ayala fell off a cliff and died in Isla Vista at the onset of the 2013 edition of the booze-filled block party Deltopia. Ayala was 18 years old when she died.
