A Morro Bay man suspected of shoplifting assaulted an employee of a San Luis Obispo party store Thursday evening, then escaped by foot into the creek, prompting a multi-agency police chase.

Eric Abril, 26, attacked an employee of The Sub on South Higuera Street around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, according to San Luis Obispo police. Abril kicked The Sub worker Jeremy Salinas in the face, causing significant facial injuries.

Shortly after officers arrived, they found Abril hiding in bushes near Higuera and Marsh streets. Abril then fled into the creek.

Officers followed and received assistance from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s K-9 Unit and Cal Poly University police officers. Police finally caught Abril on Dalidio Ranch, soon to be known as San Luis Ranch, on Madonna Road.

Abril was booked without bail into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on charges of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, assault causing great bodily injury, resisting arrest, possession of a switchblade knife and having outstanding warrants in Santa Clara County.

That guy is a real Sub-par human.

If he raided a subversive organization and then evaded three groups of well-trained opposing forces for over a mile through homeless encampments and the s**t-dipped punji stakes of human waste mixed with broken 40 oz glass bottles (where I fished barefoot as a child) maybe he is a candidate for our Special Forces.

sounds like a lot of trouble just to get a couple of blunt wraps and a Jimi Hendrix poster.
