Is Paavo Ogren a Jedi master?

Questions remain as to why San Luis Obispo County Public Works Director Paavo Ogren is leaving his post to head the embattled six-employee Oceano Services District, but Ogren is undoubtedly leaving the county in style.

At the June 17 board of supervisors meeting, the board will present Ogren with a resolution honoring his service to the county. The resolution commends Ogren not only for his work as public services director, but for his good looks, charm, Finnish heritage and sheer will power.

Ogren’s wisdom is even reminiscent of that of Star Wars Jedi master Obi-Won Kenobi, according to the resolution.

“Paavo has advanced the work of the Department and has demonstrated high level of wisdom among staff earning the nickname “Obi-Won Kenobi” of Public Works.

“Through his imagination, financial abilities, knack for stakeholder engagement, power to foresee opportunity, charm, good looks, Finnish Heritage and sheer will power he has advanced major projects such as the Lopez Dam Seismic Remediation, the Nacimiento Water Pipeline Project, and the Willow Road Interchange.”

Ogren has stated previously that he plans to begin work in Oceano on July 21.

Board of Supervisors Chairman Bruce Gibson said earlier this week that Tuesday’s meeting has an extensive agenda, and he argued against including a hearing on a proposed water management district in North County. The presentation to Ogren, though, could feature several speakers.

The board is scheduled to read the resolution at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

I think the real question we need to be focused on is how we are going to fix the ongoing problems in Oceano. These problems have been ignored by the County and State for far too long !


Which New Supervisor will step forward to restore trust and financial oversight ?

When is the Grand Jury going to do a complete Investigation ?

What about a State Audit on finances and management ?

Will the the New DA show the courage to prosecute those responsible for theft and misuse of public power.

LAFCO, Merger With Arroyo Grande, streamline and consolidate ?

Why are our State Senator, Assembly Represenative, Attorney General, all missing in action.


Never have so many, done so little, to help our Oceano Community.

Where are the Checks and Balances ?

The Accountability ?

Most Important… ” Where Is The Rule of Law ?”.

If we’re judging people by their looks; Bruce Gibson looks much like an Ewok, acts like a donkey.

I’ll withhold judgment on who most looks like Jabba the Hut.


Lynn Compton does have an eerie resemblance to Darryl Hannah’s character Elle Driver in “Kill Bill”, however …minus the eye patch obviously.

Really people? This shows the overall lack of professionalism and the level of a joke that Government officials are. Unfortunately, the joke is on us.


He must of pulled off the jedi mind trick to convince a bankrupt municipality with 50 residents to pay him $300k/year though. Good for him.

It just made me want to puke, period! I agree this is what our government has devolved to; Talking about his looks. Maybe that should be done at a private party, but the man did not save us tax payers any money during his “career” at the county. Shouldn’t he have been arrested for all that went on with his son in his house and car? But instead he is lauded for whatever he might have accomplished at the county. Sad, sad, sad!

Let me enlighten you once again. Remember the Lord Jesus Christ commanded, “Judge righteous judgment” (John 7:24). He told a man, “Thou hast rightly judged” (Luke 7:43). and the most important judging verse is when He told others; “Why even of yourselves judge ye not what is right?” (Luke 12:57).


Roy, you judge things everyday, one of which we’re to judge if we’re picked for jury duty in a court room setting. 2+2=4.


I would suggest that the next time you once again try in vain to proffer a biblical edict to support your weak position; learn the bible as a whole, first and foremost.
