The San Luis Obispo County District Attorney filed multiple felony charges Friday against five Cal Poly players accused of the armed robbery of a fraternity house on Aug. 10, according to a press release.

Cameron Akins, a wide receiver, is accused of donning a black ski mask, carrying a 38 caliber Derringer handgun and demanding money and drugs from several men at the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity house. When confronted by police, Akins allegedly fought and bit an officer.

Even though Akins, 19, of Monrovia was the only player who demanded money while brandishing a firearm, the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office has also filed multiple felony charges against the other four suspects. Dominique Alize Love, 19, of Poway; Jake Anthony Brito, 18, of Cypress; Kristaan Sterling Ivory, 20, of Los Angeles; and Cortland Josiah Fort, 20, of Fontana have been charged with conspiracy to commit residential robbery, attempted residential robbery, attempted burglary, and false imprisonment.

Akins, who was arrested at the fraternity house, is also charged with resisting arrest through threats or violence.

Officers located Fort, the driver of the car, allegedly fleeing the scene with the light off, the district attorney’s complaint says. Fort was also arrested on Aug. 10. Police then located the other suspects and arrested each of them on the Cal Poly campus on Aug. 11.

All five suspects are scheduled for arraignment on Monday.

“…in the entire recorded history of the planet, there has never been a greater voluntary abandonment of men from their children than there is today in black America. Never.”

I’m curious how many of these thug football players grew up with dads in the home. My guess is ZERO. Does that excuse what they did? Nope. Lots of us grew up without a dad and we knew that violence is wrong.

But Cal Poly (or any other school) can’t just pluck a kid (black, white, brown, or purple–sorry indigo1955 but color’s NOT the only issue here) with probably mediocre grades—out of ghetto, stick him at a college campus four hours from home and expect him to just “blend in.”

Were these football players vetted other than “yeah–the guy has a good arm”?

Did they need letters of reference from teachers or community members? What were there high school grades like? Did any of them spend time at juvenile hall?

Did any of them grow up with a dad or grandpa who taught them to study? To respect women? To work hard? To not stick a gun in someone’s face and demand drugs?

Until more prominent black leaders (besides Bill Cosby) stand up and say enough is enough…I wouldn’t be surprised if we read about more incidents involving high school/college athletes just like this one.

**THEIR high school grades

Yipes. You can tell my spelling grade wasn’t A+.

who killed Innis Cosby ?

Mikail Markhasev, a Ukrainian immigrant, was convicted in July, 1998, of murdering comedian Bill Cosby’s 27-year-old son, Ennis Cosby, during a botched 1997 robbery. He was sentenced to life in prison a month later.

the killer was involved with a Christian nationalist Nazi gang. While on his way to rob and kill a drug dealer, killed Innis because he was black and successful and would enhance his prestige among his friends.

There is something more to this story….and why are all the guys arrested African American? Are they using this to send a “don’t come back to our white-bread town” message? Stay tuned….

Oh, please…

Don’t try to use your brand of racism as a means to mitigate the deeds done…

Really? You are the one trying to inject racial tones. Why are they black? A lot of football players are. Have you watched an NFL game recently?

Maybe because they were all African American??????

Have you actually looked at their photographs? Are you saying that Jake Anthony Brito is “African-American”?

I say “Let The Gavel Swing”. These guys are no better than anyone else caught committing a crime. Don’t want to hear how you came from bad hood. You were poor or disadvantaged. You had a skill that was a advantage in life that was something you took for granted and did a crime we would all be punished for. equally and fairly. We all face probs in life.

However, it is our responsibility to answer for our misactions. CaU l poly player or not,”U PLAY U PAY”

Lessee…hometowns of Monrovia, Poway, Cypress, Fontana, and Los Angeles…and they commit felonies. Is anybody surprised?

Nope, not surprised. However, I would be equally unsurprised if they came from San Francisco, Sunnyvale, Oakland, Sacramento, Stockton, Fresno, Hanford, Arvin, Oxnard, Lompoc, Santa Maria, King City, Paso Robles or even Grover Beach. There are bound to be stupid and/or criminal elements in the populations of just about any reasonably sized town and perhaps greater concentrations in larger metro areas.

While I don’t particularly like big metro areas — SoCal in particular — it is not an indictment of any individual who comes from such areas. If they were trying to steal drugs from a frat house, I wonder where the frat boys that had the drugs came from? SLO maybe?

I think you will find the law applied in a most just fashion by Mr. D

Yes you will, when he takes office in January.

Hopefully, this will send a strong message to those who bring their bad behavior and big city attitudes to SLO.

Like Katie Lichtig and her LA area imports?

The new DA doing his job vs.cronyism. Nice.

The new DA isn’t the DA until January.

Nor because they are black and may in some circumstances come from underprivileged settings.

Let them face the music as any “normal” citizen would have to. No special treatment because they are athletes.

Calpoly athletes special treatment ends at grande ave. long way from the SEC.
