October 16, 2014

kpygA new media company, Dimes Media of Camarillo, announced it has entered into an agreement with Mapleton Communications to purchase five San Luis Obispo market radio stations.

The five stations are the first Dimes Media acquisition. Mapleton is attempting to sell KPYG 94.9 FM, KXTZ 95.3 FM, KXDZ 100.5 FM, KWWV 106.1 FM and KYNS 1340 AM.

Eric Fahnoe, president of Dimes Media, said he plans to move to San Luis Obispo County which will make the stations locally owned and operated.

“After significant research and investigation, we determined that the San Luis Obispo market represents a vibrant and diverse community with tremendous potential,” Fahnoe said. “We’re thrilled to be the flagship of the newly formed Dimes Media.

“Our family has owned and operated radio stations for three generations. I’m proud to lead this new company at an exciting and innovative time in our industry’s evolution.”

Fahnoe is the grandson of Richard Dimes Buckley, the founder of Buckley Broadcasting.

The sale is expected to close in 45 to 60 days.

KCLU 89.9 or 92.1 FM is where intelligent talk radio exists.

I hope they have somebody interesting like Clark Howard on at Noon, Dave Ramsey on KVEC bores me to tears. Just what everybody needs to hear, a bible thumper helping people who make 200K/year!

Bring back Tom Leykis to the Central Coast. This crowd needs some over the top reality!

I miss Capt Buffoon

San Luis Obispo needs another Christian radio station to spread the Gospel of Jesus the Christ! Hopefully these new owners will understand that you can never have enough Christian radio in the name of Jesus, because like He and His father said, Jesus’ words must be spread about!

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” (Matthew 28:19)

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)

“Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!” (Psalm 96:3)

Hopefully Dimes Media will include Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck as well to show this county what REAL Christians are to act like, praise!

non_stop Jesus on short wave for days holy crap!

LOL!

Oh OK…perhaps some reruns of Dr. Gene Scott, or Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker.

Please don’t F’up the PYG!

1340 KYNS; Let’s see if they can revive that dead turd of a station with some energetic programing that isn’t all about right wing spin.

1340 hasn’t had “right wing spin” programming in a long long time. Unless you consider “The Pina Colada” song as right wing

I thought that kyns was new age archaic revival type programming

I have to confess that I haven’t listened since all of anything anywhere near “progressive” was pulled off; I tried listening for a day or so to the replacement stuff- really bad attempts at trying to sound “balanced” while spewing forth the usual conservative tripe.

My apologies for not being current with what is on that station now.

1340 was once the dominate Talk station in the city. That should not be too difficult to achieve again….

Actually “bobby,” KYNS was one of the highest rated AM stations in the late 1980’s. early 1990’s when it aired mostly right-wing programming. When the Clear-Channel corporation bough KVEC and took most of it’s programming over there, KYNS changed their format to the “Progressive” (aka: ultra liberal) “Air America Radio Network. When Air America became a “dead turd,” KYNS followed. What a stupid idea, Left-Wing Liberal radio. That means they would have been competing with NBC, ABC, CNN, and especially NPR.

Bring back Bill Benica!

Glad to hear it, how this effects me personally remains a mystery, sorta like Obamas re-election

Well maybe some out there, like myself, listen to some of these music stations and wonder with the new owners, if the music will change. Sorry to tell you this but the world doesn’t just revolve around you, hence why all kinds of news for all kinds of people.

More good news for Limbaugh/Hannity fans?
