Morro Bay police have arrested a former employee of an Embarcadero restaurant for taking part in a burglary of the business in May.

Earlier this month, officers arrested Morro Bay resident Phong Thanh Tran for allegedly burglarizing Dutchman’s Seafood House and stealing several thousand dollars out of the business’s safe. Tran is also accused of burglarizing a Morro Bay antique business and of stealing check out of mailboxes in the city, which he then forged to his name.

On Tuesday morning, detectives arrested former Dutchman’s employee Euerardo Rodriques Lozano, 47, for assisting Tran in the May 26 robbery of the restaurant. Lozano aided in planning the burglary and received some of the stolen money, according to Morro Bay police.

The burglary resulted in a loss of more than $5,000 to the restaurant, including money stolen and damage to the property.

Officers charged Lozano, a Morro Bay resident, with burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime, principal in a crime and accessory to a crime.

An investigation into the burglary is ongoing. Morro Bay police request that anyone with information about the crime of the suspects arrested contact the department at 772-6225.
