Wayne Bair is accused of killing Marie Bair before trying to stab himself to death. The incident occurred on June 13 at the couple’s Foster City home in San Mateo County.

Officers responded to a report of a medical emergency at the home. They found both Bairs with stab wounds to their necks.

Marie Bair was dead by the time police arrived.

Investigators said there were no signs of any intruders. Police found the knife at the scene.

Wayne Bair spent weeks in the hospital recovering. He was then charged with murder and an enhancement for use of a deadly weapon and was placed in custody.

He is due back in court on Aug. 31 to enter a plea.

What a sad story. I certainly don’t think the criminal justice system is the place to get this sorted out. It’s possible that this was a planned murder/suicide pact but I would think that at their age, medications (sleeping pills, high blood pressure meds etc) would have been easy to come by. He probably has some dementia especially considering that he tried to stab himself which isn’t easy to do. He belongs in a mental health ward not a jail.

This is a gruesome outcome of a long marriage, and since everyone seems to have jumped upon the band-wagon of circular reasoning, then let us entertain this possible outcome with what could have happened if this couple were true Christians.

As all true Christian men and women know, the head of the woman is the superior man. Therefore, this man’s wife may have started to step out of bounds in wanting to be free of her husbands rule over her. Since she possibly did’t follow her husbands godly rule, vouchsafed by our Hebrew God Yahweh, then the 93 year old man took it upon himself of stabbing her to death. Christian women have to learn their place within the godly scheme of things.

“Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.” (Ephesians 5:22-24)

“In the same way, you wives, be submissive to your own husbands so that even if any of them are disobedient to the word, they may be won without a word by the behavior of their wives, as they observe your chaste and respectful behavior.” (1 Peter 3:1-2)

“Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.” (Colossians 3:18)

I can’t be everywhere, but if I was able to have talked to this man about his seemingly troubling wife, I could have told him about the following doctrine that he could have initiated which would have been easier than murdering her, to wit;

“A continual dripping on a rainy day and a quarrelsome wife are alike;” (Proverbs 27:15)

“It is better to live in a desert land than with a quarrelsome and fretful woman.” (Proverbs 21:19)

“It is better to live in a corner of the housetop than in a house shared with a quarrelsome wife.” (Proverbs 25:24)

“A quarrelsome wife is as annoying as constant dripping on a rainy day. Stopping her complaints is like trying to stop the wind or trying to hold something with greased hands.” (Proverbs 27:15-16)

Let us pray.

Brother Ted… You got it !

Bless you ! SELAH !

This may have been a botched “mercy killing/suicide”.

I have no doubt this old man will pass before too long, I’m sure he wishes he hadn’t survived.

Maybe so, but to choose one’s demise through stab wounds to the neck with a kitchen knife is pretty gruesome. I don’t know how someone could do that to the person they love out of compassion.

Seems to me the gun control crowd also loves the idea of assisted suicide. This became a brutal and nasty affair and I’d bet it was a planned double-suicide pact!

Maybe, but it could be as simple as one late dinner too many. 75+ years of late meals can drive a man to do the unthinkable. Seriously though, people who are perfectly normal throughout their life may develop mental glitches once they start getting up there in age. I can think of many believable scenarios. If applicable, hopefully he gets treatment.

Surely there must be some other place for this sadness to be sent, besides the criminal justice system.

Truth is stranger than fiction.
