Paso Robles man dies in ATV crash

A 69-year-old man died after crashing his ATV on his rural Paso Robles property Monday morning.
The California Highway Patrol has identified the man as William Schaffer. The crash occurred around 9:30 a.m.
Schaffer was driving a Kubota ATV, which has a similar design to a Razor or Gator, according to the CHP. Schaffer made a turning movement that caused him to roll down a hillside.
Schaffer was ejected from the ATV as it was rolling down the hill. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Responders pronounced Schaffer dead at the scene.
It is not clear what caused Schaffer to lose control of the ATV. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected as possible factors.
Schaffer was the only occupant of the ATV.
