It is easy to judge a person when you do not know them personally.

I don’t know this man personally, I won’t judge him. I am sorry he made a bad decision. It sounds like he is facing his consequences. I wish him a speedy recovery. I am glad no one else was hurt.

It is a given that alcohol consumption + operating a vehicle or piece of machinery = disaster and destruction. But some people continue to do it. So so sad and so so avoidable.

I have known Dean for 14 years or so, and he is an upstanding, family man who made a mistake and drove while under the influence.

I know he is clinging to life and has been in a coma since the accident. I pray for him and his family, and hope he is able to get better.

Fail. Another reckless idiot that could have easily killed a child, motorcyclist, or pedestrian.

I am sure you have made a mistake or two and driven when you probably shouldn’t have, to tired, took a pain pill, maybe even had a drink or two.

Did Dean make a bad decision yes, but to get on here and call him a reckless idiot, is wrong. He could have easily killed a kid ect… but he didn’t.

He is a hard working man, who if you met him you would probably like him, he is a very nice person.

I don’t like drunk drivers either, but unless they are repeat offenders I don’t know that I would call them reckless idiots.

May you never make a bad mistake in your life that you hope to live to regret.

People have no decency or compassion these days. The term ad hominem means nothing on this site, and I frankly think there is a core of very disturbed people on here with nothing but time on their hands—as well as a bone to pick with society in general.

Just ignore this particular demographic on Cal Coast News. I hope your friend not only survives this, but heals and learns from his mistake.

THANKYOU

indigo1955, I appreciate your compassion and I too hope Dean heals and learns from his mistake.

ad hominem indigo1955? In the same sentence you call me disturbed, a sloth, and vengeful…

Perhaps you are unfamiliar with this term.

Maybe you and dogeatdog can go out, get drunk and crash into things and then forgive each other.

I wonder if everyone would be so quick to dismiss and forgive if he had killed a 6 year old girl on the way home from school (8pm).

The behavior is the same…it’s just the consequences that were different.

Damn, life takes crazy turns. Drunk drivers suck…big time! Glad nobody else was involved or hurt. I’ve known Dean for over a couple decades. Our businesses that brought us to aquaintence went in different directions a number of years ago and I lost track. He was/is an upstanding, good and honest family man. I had heard he had a bad bicycling accident a number of years back that messed him up with a bad head injury but details were sketchy. I never heard more and our paths have not crossed. I hope he makes a full recovery and puts this bad decision behind him.
