Following a weekend storm, parts of Highway 1 and Highway 41 are closed. A rock slide spilled onto Highway 41 between Morro Bay and Atascadero, and downed trees and power lines fell on Highway 1 in Grover Beach. [KSBY]

The rock slide occurred shortly before 6 a.m. Monday just south of Cero Alto Road. The southbound lane of Highway 41 is closed while crews clean up the debris.

On Sunday night, trees and power lines fell on Highway 1 north of Grand Avenue near the Monarch Butterfly Grove. Caltrans and PG&E crews worked overnight but did not finish clearing the roadway.

The stretch of Highway 1 north of Grand Avenue and south of the Pismo Beach State Campground remains closed Monday morning.

Between 2 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, areas in San Luis Obispo County received rain totals ranging from about .5 inches to 1.7 inches. Cal Poly, which received 1.67 inches, and Santa Margarita, which received 1.61 inches, had the highest rainfall totals among measurement locations in the county.

The news is just to disaster hungry, it seems that rain, snow or wind has got all local govs pumping media and applying for disaster relief before there is one. This is an example of just how underfunded gov is. We know why but can’t say.
