Man dies in Memorial Day ATV crash near Nacimiento Lake

ambulance 4A 30-year-old San Diego man died in an ATV accident Monday near Nacimiento Lake. Authorities have identified the man as Joshua Anthony Buttitta.

Shortly after 12 p.m., Buttitta was driving a Yamaha Rhinoa, failed to navigate a turn on a dirt road and rolled it over, according to a sheriff’s office news release. San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s deputies then responded to the Cal-Shasta Club in the 3500 block of Soda Road in rural Paso Robles.

Responders attempted to resuscitate Buttitta, but the efforts failed. Buttitta was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time of the crash, there was one passenger in Buttitta’s ATV. The passenger escaped uninjured.

Both Buttitta and the passenger were believed to have been wearing seat belts. The CHP is investigating the crash, and the county coroner is in the process of determining the cause of death.
