Man killed in Atascadero crash

June 3, 2016

CHP@A 41-year-old Atascadero man was killed Friday morning in a rollover accident on Highway 101 between Santa Barbara Road and Santa Rosa Road in Atascadero, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Shortly before 3 a.m., the Atascadero man was driving a 1997 green Chevy truck southbound when he drifted partly into the center median, he over corrected, spun out, hit a curb and the truck became airborne. As the truck cartwheeled, the man was ejected from the cab and landed on the shoulder of the road.

The man was killed in the crash. He was not wearing a seatbelt and officers suspect alcohol may have played a role in the accident. CHP officials are not releasing the man’s name pending notification of his next of kin.

And the carnage on our local highways continues seemingly unabated. My condolences to the family and loved ones.
