Bryce Vinokurov: Foodies In Exile

After living in Boston for ten years, Bryce Vinokurov’s move to Davis in Northern California left him feeling in exile from the urban city life. However, he soon found inspiration in the landscape and the emergent national fixation with the sustainable food industry.

His mostly abstract and satirical artwork revolves around a group of foodies who are not set in a specific time or space. Mr. Vinokurov enjoys the idea of these foodies exiled to an idyllic place where they are cooking on grills and fighting over recipes and truffle pigs. The inspiration for the landscape these foodies often find themselves in, and the composition of these groups are heavily influenced by the painters Giotto, Piero della Francesca, and Lorenzetti.
