Heidi Franscioni: Father's Dreams
“I dreamed that I was moving all my unused stuff into in a large dark city, down a long dark hall, into a large dark apartment, into a large dark room. After all the moving trips were made with all my unused stuff, lastly, I carried my dead body in and laid it on top of a piece of unused furniture. My body was wrapped in light fabric and I was ashamed that I still wanted to keep it. Surely it should be discarded, buried, burned, and let go. Instead, it was obsessively kept.”
In this multimedia installation, Heidi Franscioni explores that place where life meets death, bliss meets loss, and joy meets sadness. Through the use of Photographic images of nudes, mummified animals, molten beeswax, and video, Franscioni takes us to an unexplored sacred space that some celebrate and others fear.
