'Law and Disorders' Community Forum

Join NAMI San Luis Obispo County for the kick-off to Mental Health Month.  On May 2nd, we will be presenting a vital community forum, "Law and Disorders - Dealing with mental illness in the criminal justice system".  We will be discussing innovation in local mental health treatment services as they relate to criminal justice, issues surrounding AB109 realignment, the future of veterans courts, and why jail shouldn't be the modern psychiatric hospital.

Our keynote speaker is legendary Santa Clara County Judge, Stephen Manley, one of the pioneers of mental health courts.  Following him will be a panel of local experts including Judge Linda Hurst; Michelle Cole (Lieutenant, Sheriff's Dept); Anna Evans (Deputy Probation Officer); Cathy Bianchi (CIT specialist, Sheriff's Dept); and Tom Beem (Behavioral Health Treatment Court).
