Incorruptible by Michael Hollinger at San Luis Obispo Little Theatre
The San Luis Obispo Little Theatre (SLOLT) will launch their 2013-2014 mainstage season of shows with the uproarious dark comedy, INCORRUPTIBLE, by Michael Hollinger on Friday, September 6th at the City Playhouse, 888 Morro Street in San Luis Obispo. The show will run Fridays and Saturdays at 7 pm and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 pm through September 29th. Directed by Jill Turnbow (The House of Blue Leaves), INCORRUPTIBLE takes place in Priseaux, France, c. 1250 A.D. where the river flooded again last week and the chandler's shop just burned to the ground. Nobody's heard of the wheelbarrow yet and St. Foy, the patron of the local monastery, hasn't worked a miracle in 13 years. In other words, the Dark Ages still look pretty dark. All eyes turn to the Pope, whose promised visit will surely encourage other pilgrims to make the trek and restore the abbey to its former glory. That is, until a rival church claims to possess the relics of St. Foy"and "their" bones are working miracles. All seems lost until the destitute monks take a lesson from a larcenous one-eyed minstrel, who teaches them an outrageous new way to pay old debts. Nothing is sacred or spared from playwright Michael Hollinger's humor as he skewers religion, celebrity worship and material worship in INCORRUPTIBLE. The show features stellar local actors Tom Ammon, John Geever, Bob Peterson, Tabatha Skanes, Rosh Wright, Clayton Greiman, Anita Schwaber and Matthew Hansen.
