A Delicate Balance
SLO Little Theatre presents a staged reading of Edward Albee’s 1967 Pulitzer Prize winning play, A DELICATE BALANCE May 2-3 at 7 pm. The play examines the uneasy existence of upper-middle-class suburbanites Agnes and Tobias and their permanent houseguest, Claire, Agnes' witty alcoholic sister. Their dysfunctional family unit is disrupted by the sudden appearance of lifelong family friends Harry and Edna, fellow empty-nesters with free-floating anxiety, who ask to stay with them to escape an unnamed terror. They soon are followed by Agnes and Tobias's bitter 36-year-old daughter Julia, who returns home following the collapse of her fourth marriage. Called “an evening of theatrical fireworks” by The New York Times, Albee’s A DELICATE BALANCE is one of his most respected and most often performed plays. All performances take place at the SLO LITTLE THEATRE, 888 Morro Street in San Luis Obispo.
