25th Annual Symphony Ball, event photos

March 5, 2013

Attendees did the Charleston like in the 1920’s at the 25th Annual Symphony Ball. It was a vintage Speakeasy, a musical gin joint complete with flappers and wiseguys from the Cal Poly Swing Club dancing to the red hot jazz of the Red Skunk Jipzee Swing Band.

Find local events as at CalCoastNews’ Event Calendar.

Some of those “Cal Poly Swing Club” dancers might want to educate themselves on appropriate attire for these types of functions. Sorry, wearing just a sweat-covered undershirt is not vintage and its definitely not classy, even if you add suspenders in a failed attempt to make it look “vintage”. No one in the 1920s would be caught dead wearing something in such bad taste at a nice function.
