Another Paso Robles business gets robbed

For the sixth time in the last three weeks, there was an armed robbery at a North County business. A man robbed a Paso Robles music and clothing store on Wednesday, escaping with cash and a pair of boots.

A female clerk at La Miramar Music Y Mas described the suspect as a white man in his 40s, who is approximately 6 feett 1 inch tall and weighs about 180 pounds. In the recent string of robberies, Wednesday marked the fifth time a suspect has been described as a white man between 6 feet and 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 180 to 200 pound.

Around noon, the robber took a pistol into La Miramar at 500 Spring Street. The suspect held up the clerk at gunpoint and demanded money and a pair of cowboy boots, according to the Paso Robles Police Department.

The clerk complied with the robber’s demand, and the suspect fled through the front doors of the business, heading in an unknown direction.

Due to fear that the robber would return, the clerk waited about five minutes before calling 911. Officers arrived at the scene within one minute of the 911 call. The officers conducted an extensive search of the area, but they did not locate the suspect.

The clerk told officers the robber was clean shaven with short hair, and he was wearing a white t-shirt, a blue jacket and blue jeans. He was armed with a small black handgun, and he possibly had a black backpack.

Officers found witnesses who reported seeing a man matching the clerk’s description of the suspect. The witnesses said the man entered a burgundy sedan that had been parked in a lot on 4th Street. The suspect reportedly hid in the backseat of the car while a white female adult with brown hair and reading glasses drove away.

The string of recent robberies began on Oct. 28 when two men robbed the Chevron station on Morro Road in Atascadero. Three days later, an armed man robbed the Mobile station on Golden Hill Road in Paso Robles. On Nov. 6, a man robbed a San Miguel Chevron station, and on Nov. 10, a man robbed Fatte’s Pizza in Atascadero.

Last week, two masked men, both said to be 5 foot 8 inches to 5 foot 10 inches tall with thin builds, robbed a Paso Robles liquor store at gunpoint. That robbery took place Saturday night at Wayside Liquor on Creston Road.

Detectives are processing surveillance footage from Wednesday’s incident and are working to obtain video or still images of the robbery. Investigators request that anyone with information about the robbery call the police department or Crime Stoppers at 805-549-STOP.
