SLO woman killed in Highway 227 crash

A 68-year-old San Luis Obispo woman reportedly pulled into oncoming traffic on Highway 227 south of SLO on Monday. Charlotte Jane Morgan suffered major injuries in the crash and died later in the day at the hospital. [KSBY]

Morgan’s 26-year-old son was a passenger in the car at the time of the crash. He reportedly suffered minor injuries.

Around 1:45 p.m., Morgan stopped in a dirt area next to Highway 227 north of Old Price Canyon Road. Morgan then pulled onto the highway without noticing an oncoming vehicle.

The oncoming car hit the driver’s side of Morgan’s vehicle. At the time, the vehicle was traveling about 55 mph.

A 59-year-old Grover Beach man was driving the vehicle that hit Morgan’s car. He reportedly suffered minor injuries.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing. The CHP says everyone involved in the collision were wearing seat belts.

Wear, sorry about that.

Had an editor, Randy Reddick at The Daily Press in Paso Robles once tell me I was the only person he knew that he had to put my copy through in code.

“You spell like they did in the fifteenth century, very phanetickley, I just place myself in that Huckleberry Finn mode”.

A radio station owner in Arroyo Grande was giving me a try in the news room.

He instructed me to pull the news off the wire and condense it down, which I was able to do without any problem.

As I entered his office handing the copy to him while he was sitting behind his desk with his legs on up on it.

As he began reading he leaned forward bring his cowboy boots to the floor, leaned forward, then up at me, saying,”my God son where did you learn how to spell”!

Offering to pay me for the day, but I was just grateful I was provided the opportunity and gave him thanks as I walked out the door.

I knew right then and there that I was always going to be a photographer.

Stay in school, I only went as far as the eighth, since then, years later obtained my GED, but just not the same.

Nice to see a well respected, widely circulated magazine like National Geographic mentioning Dans investigative reporting in CalCoastNews.

You know you’re doing you’re job well when others spend their energy, time and money vilifying a story you may be reporting on that sheds light where they wish it not be brought to the light of day..

It’s to those reporters who are willing to put themselves in harm’s way in gathering information on a story that needs reporting, the type of information most other news outlets and journalist won’t dare touch, for fear of losing kuttles from those they may beholding too.

Isn’t that the way of the world today! and what a lose for citizens who depend on informative information in which wise decisions can be based upon, not a scheme that will in the end wind up disastrous.

Oh see what state we are finding ourselves in, we need more the likes of Dan Blackburn’s and Karen Veliel.

Really sorry to hear you lost your case, but we who really understand know the reasons why, so, hang in their, smile and hold your chins up high, your winners in my book.
