Sen. Sam Blakeslee’s staff rallies behind Women’s Shelter

After reading that the San Luis Obispo Women’s Shelter was behind in their efforts to provide Thanksgiving dinner for up to 53 different families currently involved in the program, state Sen. Sam Blakeslee provided the shelter with all of the trimmings for side dishes.

“Holidays are a particularly tough time for households throughout California in this economy,” said Senator Blakeslee. “Every family, especially those working hard to get back on their feet, deserves to have a Thanksgiving meal with their loved ones.

“It’s my honor and privilege to be one of many community members who have donated to this cause. I commend Beth Raub and the entire staff at the shelter for the valuable services they provide to San Luis Obispo families throughout the entire year. They serve as a shining example of generosity and selflessness that we should all emulate.”

Further food and cash donations for the shelter’s Thanksgiving drive can be dropped off weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the Business Office, 51 Zaca Lane, Suite 150, in San Luis Obispo.

Yeah for the women’s shelter and yea for Sam Blakeslee’s staff!! How GENEROUS!!! The headline says STAFF. The text says Sam says he’s a community member.


Who then paid for the 53 families? Sam’s staff, personally? Sam, personally? Or was Sam’s Senatorial office aka: me and you via our tax dollars?


I’m glad the other 53 families are being fed this Thanksgiving, but to whom should we be saying thanks?

Governor Schwarzenegger has to be commended for making a very wise, sound decision in restoring funding for battered women shelters. Without a shelter for a battered women to go to, she could be murdered or severely beaten. This is a very important point that Governor Schwarzenegger recognized. Most men are bigger than women. This is a reverse decision for Governor Schwarzenegger and this decision shows that the Governor has a flexible mind to do what is right. Well done! Governor Arnold A. Schwarzenegger! You have saved the lives of many battered women. If a husband has plans to murder or severely beat his wife, beware, the “Terminator will be Back.”
