January 14, 2014
A Salinas man was arrested Thursday for allegedly murdering a Morro Bay man in December.
Salinas Police officers arrested Hector Martinez at the Monterey County Courthouse where he was appearing on an unrelated case. Officers booked Martinez into the Monterey County Jail with bail set at $3 million.
On Dec. 5, a maid at the Laurel Inn in Salinas discovered 53-year-old Bobby Dick Jr. of Morro Bay dead in his room. Dick, a traveling mechanic, frequently stayed at the motel when he had work in the area.
A Monterey County Coroner’s office autopsy revealed Dick had been stabbed several times.
