A golf course employee thought he saw a black lab near the 10th hole, but soon discovered the trespasser was a bear. Animal Control responded and used a beanbag gun to chase the bear into the river area behind the course.

In May, people spotted two bears in Arroyo Grande and one at the Nipomo Regional Park next to a baseball field.

Officials say more frequent bear sightings may occur in the coming months due to the ongoing drought. Park rangers remind residents to keep their trash cans secure.

The drought may have a small part in it but lack of a hunting season for bear is the larger problem.
