Driver suffers major injuries in Highway 101 crash in rural Arroyo Grande

A single vehicle crash on Highway 101 in rural Arroyo Grande left one person suffering from major injuries on Saturday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Shortly after 4 p.m., a caller driving southbound on Highway 101 near El Campo Road reported watching a truck drive off the highway in their rear view mirror. Shortly afterwards, emergency received an iPhone traffic collision notification.
A second caller reported a truck hit a road sign and then crashed into a tree.
CHP officers arrived to find a grey Dodge Ram with major front end damage about 20 feet from the highway, according to the CHP.
