Santa Margarita man arrested for attempted murder

Morro Bay Police arrested a Santa Margarita man for allegedly holding his girlfriend hostage and assaulting her early Tuesday morning.

Following an argument at a Morro Bay hotel on Atascadero Road, Romen Homero Deleon, 31, allegedly took his girlfriend’s cell phone, restrained and then attacked her, police said. Deleon fled the scene before officers arrived.

Paramedics treated the woman for her injuries.

Later in the day, police arrested Deleon at a home in Santa Margarita where he had been staying.

Officers booked Deleon into San Luis Obispo County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, felony domestic violence, victim intimidation, obstructing the use of cellular phone and vandalism.

Attempted murder? I am curious to what brought that charge about. No doubt the loser should have been charged with the rest of them from the little info here, but it seems like if he wanted to killed her he would have. More info would be good.
