Police arrested Christopher Sorenson, 29, on Friday for allegedly murdering his mother, Janet Sorenson, 71.

“We have reason to believe he was either in San Luis Obispo County or Santa Barbara County over the weekend,” Sgt. Christopher Lane said to the Californian. “She could be anywhere between Monterey … and now as far south as Santa Maria … maybe even further south. We just don’t know.”

Following up on calls from friends and neighbors worried about Janet Sorenson’s wellbeing, police discovered she was missing. A two day search culminated in the discovery of Christopher Sorenson sleeping in his mother minivan in Monterey.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen Janet Sorenson and/or Christopher Sorenson to call the Salinas Police Department investigations division at 831-758-7226.

There are probably a million time bombs like this guy walking around.

Another case of a mentally ill son, not taking his medication.

“A source familiar with Christopher Sorenson’s background said he was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder as a teenager. According to the Mayo Clinic website, “schizoaffective disorder is a condition in which a person experiences a combination of schizophrenia symptoms — such as hallucinations or delusions — and of mood disorder symptoms, such as mania or depression.”
