San Luis Obispo County healthier than most

San Luis Obispo County is ranked the 13th healthiest California County out of the 56 ranked in an annual report by the University of Wisconsin Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
In California, Marin County is ranked the healthiest with Trinity County coming in last.
The Rankings used criteria including death rates, health factors such as drinking and smoking, pollution levels, access to medical care, and economic and education factors.
SLO County ranked healthier than average in air quality, educational indicators, a physically active population, and fewer smokers.
On the non-healthy side, SLO County residents are heavier than average drinkers and have more than the average number of deaths from auto mobile accidents.
In addition, California has a significantly higher number of sexually transmitted diseases than the national rank of 83. California ranked 399 with SLO County coming in at 235.
