Cal Poly to hold vigil for deceased student

February 13, 2013

slo2Cal Poly is hosting a candlelight vigil Wednesday evening to honor Brandon Huang, who died early Sunday morning.

The vigil will take place at 5:45 p.m. at the University Union.

Huang, a second-year biology major, died after returning from a party Saturday night, where he struggled to breathe. Huang stopped breathing just outside his Poly Canyon residence hall around midnight Sunday, and responders did not succeed in resuscitating him.

The cause of Huang’s death is still unknown, but an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

Organizers of the vigil will display a slide show remembering Huang. Those who wish to submit photos for the slide show can do so on the event’s Facebook page.

A memorial event will follow the vigil upstairs in the right wing of the Chumash Auditorium.
