Paso Robles City Councilman Steven Martin announced Monday he plans to run for the mayor’s seat in the November 2014 election.

Martin served on the council from 1987 through 1996 and as mayor for two of those years. He was elected back on the council to a four year term in 2012.

Martin is a marketing professional with a background in media and public relations, according to his biography on the city’s website.

Current Paso Robles Mayor Duane Picanco announced during the last election season that he would not likely run again in 2014.

Candidates can file their application to run for office from July 16 through Aug. 10. No other candidates have yet announced their intention to run for office.
