California governor orders bars in seven counties to close

June 28, 2020

Gov. Gavin Newsom

California Gov. Gavin Newsom ordered all bars in seven counties to close, and recommended closures in eight others counties on Sunday, citing a surge in new coronavirus cases.

The state ordered bars in Los Angeles, Fresno, Kern, San Joaquin, Tulare, Kings and Imperial counties to close immediately. In addition, Brown recommended health officials in Santa Barbara, Ventura, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, Sacramento, Riverside, San Bernardino and Stanislaus counties also temporarily close all bars.

“COVID-19 is still circulating in California, and in some parts of the state, growing stronger,” Newsom said. “That’s why it is critical we take this step to limit the spread of the virus in the counties that are seeing the biggest increases.”

During the second week of June, Brown permitted bars to reopen. However, as the state has reopened, the number of daily new coronavirus cases and hospitalizations has increased.

Leading counties for confirmed coronavirus cases:

Los Angeles County has 95,371 confirmed cases, 3,285 deaths.

Imperial County has 6,041 confirmed cases, 81 death.

Kern County has 4,478 confirmed cases, 70 deaths.

Fresno County has 4,474 confirmed cases, 72 deaths.

Tulare County has 3,810 confirmed cases, 122 deaths.

San Juaquin County has 3,093  confirmed cases, 52 deaths.

Kings County has 2,318  confirmed cases, 22 deaths.

So SLO county is now surrounded by counties with closed bars just before Independence day?….not a smart move by Newsome….Be safe and do your drinking at home SLO residents….

If people keep acting like “war times said Trump” are over, small business will continue to suffer and those who need our protection the most including the majority on earth, the poor, will die. The highest demographic of death in the US are poor, minorities, ignorant folks and indigenous says NPR. This is a global pandemic, not a tin foil hat Hoax. Listen to our leaders, there are perks to masks too, like anonymity, I cherish that, in this digital age of mass surveillance and The Patriot Act. Glasses and mask, not getting my face in your Amazon and Microsoft cloud severs DOD and Homeland Security!

The only way to beat this virus is to destroy small, independent business and put people on a universal basic income….so were all the same with no virus,

Sound incoherent and confused to ya? Well, you bet! And yet, I am accurately describing the business end of “fighting Covid.”

When did all of you notice we began to lose our minds?

“… we began to lose our minds?”

We?

Not everyone, Doc. At least not quite yet. Just the ones who are running this dying state.

“The only way to beat this virus is to destroy small, independent business and put people on a universal basic income”

No, the way to beat this virus was to recognize it for it what it was in the very beginning, and not say that it was simply the flu, as you did, incessantly, or that it would go away, “just like a miracle,” as Mr. Trump did.

Nations such as S. Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Japan beat the virus back with very few casualties and only superficial damage to their economies because they had a plan from the beginning to test, trace and quarantine. Unfortunately, we did none of those things and we, either opened too soon in some places, or did not open properly with masks required.

Why do you continue to downplay this thing as simply people “losing their minds?” People are dying, young people are becoming infected at alarming rates with potential longterm health consequences.

Add to that the fact that Americans like you would deny these people health insurance in the future because of pre-existing conditions.

But, glad to see you’ve abandoned the ridiculous sarcasm.

One month of Protesting, rioting, looting, etc. Huge groups of people, shoulder to shoulder, screaming their lungs out against police, and none of that transmitted the virus? Alrighty then.

Nobody could stop these protestS.They are the voice of democratie.this is the perfect intrepretation of the 1st.

On the other hand we can close source of contagion ,for the good of the country. A SAVE LIFE WORTH MORE THAN A COUPLE BEER. YOU CAN HAVE A ZOOM MEETING,HAVING A BEER WITH YOUR FRIENDS

This is crazy. All the protesters/rioters are certainly NOT social distancing but were going to blame it on the bars. Enough already this governors power trip is to much! More economic destruction. These business are not the cause.

Entering with a mask and having a drink with friends can be deadly…..but rioting, protesting, CHOP, shopping at Home Depot, and even the realities of Polio back in the day are/were not big enough concerns to shut the country down for. Has the time come for business owners to take a stand?
