Grover Beach City Council member resigns, appointment planned

August 26, 2026

Grover Beach City Councilwoman Kathy McCorry-Driscoll resigned her seat earlier this month because of a change in residency.

The City Council voted unanimously on Monday to fill the vacancy through an appointment instead of a special election. City staff estimated the special election would cost $330,000.

Originally elected in Nov. 2024, McCorry-Driscoll’s term of office was set to expire in Dec. 2028.

On Oct. 13, the Grover Beach City Council is slated to appoint a resident to fill the District 3 seat.

She did the right thing by disclosing her move.

Thank you.

Another appointment to silence the voters and pick a council member who will tow the line with officials instead of letting the residents voices be heard.
